Real Mom, Real Tired goes to SeaWorld San Antonio to meet Elmo for the Sesame Street 50th Birthday Party and Parade!

To say my daughter, Baker, loves Sesame Street, particularly Elmo, would be an understatement. She ADORES Elmo. Like fully in love, he's her best friend, her buddy and her hero.

So when we heard about the Sesame Street 50th Birthday Party celebrations at SeaWorld we knew we had to go!

Sesame Street already had a really fun attraction at SeaWorld San Antonio called "Bay of Play", which includes three acres of rides, shows, play areas and splash pads and more.

It was so hot the weekend in August we went, so we did everything possible to keep cool. Lots of splash pad time, we hung out in the "Electric Ocean" a dance party room they keep at 50 degrees. It has a live DJ, drinks and ice cream, so it's a definite when it's 100+ degrees as it was the day we visited!

Random tidbit, even though "Electric Ocean" is dark and cool in there, it's legit a club with a live DJ, so it's not a great place to take baby for a nap. Unless you bring headphones and your baby isn't woken by the loud music.

Let me walk you through our day! We hit the road from Austin at 11 a.m. and arrived in the parking lot at SeaWorld at 12:25. We paid the extra few dollars for the up close parking. We managed to make it inside and to the Bay of Play stage where Sesame Street Characters perform throughout the day by 12:45. Though we didn't make it in time to see the performance, we did get there in time to take a picture with with Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Zoe. It turns out the timing worked really well because the link after the rest of the shows was super long!

From there we booked it right to a Bay Of Play Splash Pad because it was so dang hot! We pre purchased tickets to have Dinner with Elmo and Friends at Rosita's Cafe and we had to check in and pick up our wristbands for that by 3 p.m. so we zipped over there to pick that up and then had lunch at Harbour Market.

We had hoped to see the Pets Ahoy performance but we didn't get in line in time and it was full, so that was a bummer. So we booked it to the "Electric Ocean" to spend some time in there cooling off.

We made another trip to the Bay Of Play Splash pad, then got cleaned up for dinner and made our way back to Rosita's Cafe for Dinner with Elmo and Friends, which began at 5:45.

It was about $40 per adult for dinner with Elmo and it was definitely the best part of the day. As you can see in the video, Baker could have played with Elmo all day. She hugged him at least eight times and wanted to just stand next to him and stare. Her love for Elmo is strong!

We knew Dinner With Elmo and friends would include a few other Sesame Street characters, including Rosita... and a character named Honker also joined. It was truly a wonderful experience. The people inside those costumes are incredible. They were all so patient and kind and their movements were so cute. And how they do that in the Texas heat, I'll never understand!

Not only did every child have multiple opportunities to meet the characters, there were activities like coloring with Rosita and games with Honker.

As far as the actual dinner at Rosita's Cafe is an "Italian" buffet. I use the term "Italian" lightly. It reminded me of a Mr Gatti's buffet. There were a few pasta dish options, pizza and salad. Nothing fancy, but it gets the dinner job done!

The whole Dinner with Elmo ordeal goes like this... you arrive at 5:45, you eat for about 30 minutes and then Elmo and his friends show up. They do a meet and greet making their rounds to the tables and then they set up games and a coloring station where the meet and greet continues until about 6:30. From there we had about 15 minutes to wrap up dinner and at 6:45 we were escorted to the Sesame Street Parade to the "VIP" section - which essentially just entailed a roped off area along the parade route.

We will absolutely go back for any Sesame Street at SeaWorld activities in the future.

I love meeting the Sesame Street characters at SeaWorld San Antonio. They're the best part of SeaWorld San Antonio for me. Also, I love having Dinner With Elmo And Friends, they are so fun.
