We are so close to donating a car to a family in need. But we need the perfect car. So we flew to California to find the perfect car.

The last car on earth I would give to someone in need is any Audi. Give them something that is inexpensive to maintain like a Honda or Toyota.

Loved it when you walked past the "Pedestrians Prohibited" sign by LAX.

$22k+ for a (6 year old) 2017 Chevy Malibu🚗 with 21k miles (at a wholesale auction)⁉
On the East cost dealers are posting on their retail websites NEW 2023 Malibus for $21.5k‼
(plus you can get other discounts like military, College grad...and below market rate financing)

You should be going to. Manheim Florida, both Orlando and Tampa once a month.

I would think it would be hard to compete with buying in the LA market since the cost of living is higher than Louisville. Their opening bids are almost too high to begin with.

Chevy Dude: "Let's stay focused on finding the perfect car for the family in need!"

Also Chevy Dude: "Wow this is so cool, I've been wanting one of these so bad!" 😆

Why not give them a Toyota or Honda for long term reliability.

In May of 2021 I purchased a 2107 Malibu Premier with 60, 000 km (38, 000 miles) for $18, 000 CAD ($14, 500 USD) and a year later a 2018 with similar mileage was retailing for $32, 000 CAD ($26, 500 USD). Brand new that car was $36, 000 CAD. Wholesale prices are still out of whack and someone is going to get stuck with over valued vehicles.

While it was too old, and probably had too many miles for your warranty company would cover, your "background car" at the opening was perfect. We bought one, and now our niece has it in Texas, and still going strong. The last year of production, but still an awesome car -- 2011 Mercury Mariner. Our exact same color even. The V6 is pretty much bullet-proof. Ford replaced the throttle body under recall, and no problems ever. Tires and front disc brakes were the only things we ever had to do.

Is that what Malibus go for? Dealers don't add for low miles.

That ecotec is the worst engine ever. You would have been setting them up for problems. Timing chain issues that destroys the engine.
