Advanced Reformer Pilates: Affective Cueing Tips 1
Показать описание
Here is a sneak peek at what is included in my latest workshop! Not only does the workshop video package include a 4 hour workshop featuring 4 of my favorite box flows, I have also included several short videos on teaching tips like this one here. Growing up with a learning disability I know first hand what it is like to not understand instruction. My first pilates teacher was a good teacher, extremely knowledgeable and really knew the pilates work inside and out. However I was always confused in her classes. She used giant anatomy terms and never demonstrated the movements visually. I spent half the class looking around to see what the other students were doing. I am clearly not dumb or even slow. I am very bright, I just process information differently. I tried teaching like her at first but then realized if I have to look up these giant anatomy terms odds are my clients will not know them either, making those cues very ineffective. Besides a good teacher should be able to relay the information in a way their students easily understand. So I began cueing my clients in a way someone like myself would understand. I always tell my teacher trainees “keep it simple”. The shorter the direction or cue the better. I like to cue one thing at a time. 1 cue per rep at first. Teaching this way allows me to teach large groups with a mixed population much easier.
