"The law of sin and death" is "holy and just" as you said, but regulations and commandments only reveal sin. "The regulation lacks any value in restraining sensual indulgence" as he explains to the Colossians. The sin the Garden didn't spoil God's original law or commandment. It only revealed its limitations.

The Torah was not intended as a moral legislation, claims John Walton..so transformation of character in moral terms cannot not be alll that's in view.
The Torah was intended to bring wisdom to order lives and the community and maintain blessing from God's presence....ie life.

Very well Mr Wright, every well understood Christian knows that he lives in the law of the Spirit of life in the Messiah. Now try to enter a synagogue of Orthodox Jews and persuade them. Or perhaps it is more difficult to convince Judaizers.
