Whether it's BTS, TXT or Enhypen, HYBE is well known for producing numerous successful boy groups. However, the company's history with its girl groups has been a lot more turbulent. From arrests, to bullying scandals, to a complete ban on female idols altogether, HYBE is infamous for having an especially hard time with girl groups, leading to what some have dubbed "HYBE's girl group curse". Today we will be revisiting the timeline of scandals and unfortunate events that befell each and every single girl group under HYBE.

Hey guys! In case you missed the intro, this is an updated version of the previous HYBE video I did. I combined the previous video I did with the new section just so everything is in one place, and I also updated some of the graphics to make things clearer and more cohesive. But if you would like to just watch the updates then feel free to skip to 16:35😊

Ps. Hopefully I don't get sued by HYBE, please don't report me guys 🤣

What I got from this video: HYBE shouldn't be avoiding girl groups, girl groups should be avoiding HYBE

I've always found the idea of child entertainers creepy. Even if the parents try to be involved I'm sure there's still a lot of time when these kids are left alone with a bunch of strangers essentially. Entertainment industry is already shady and exploitative so imagine a child navigating that.

Garam did what literally ANYONE would do. If someone shared pics of MY friends changing, there would be WAY more things shared than just curse words. Knetz have no room judging garam for cussing someone out for good reason when they bodyshame, bully, attack, and tell idols to “delete” themselves on the regular. Fans ruined her career and refuse to acknowledge it. There’s no way she can comeback from this and it’s so sad. I hope she can find another passion and live a good life.

I miss Gfriend every day, hopefully they comeback, as they won their name's trademark

even if she was/is guilty, no one had the right to cyberbully her, those are some double standards right there. and when she was kicked there was absolutely nothing to celebrate, as no one was the winner in the situation. people made a whole serious matter into a joke, disgusting

why is no one talking about Garams friend who stood up for Garam she is a true friend and we all need a friend like her. Huge RESPECT to Garams friend.

the fact that garam was actually proved innocent makes the things she went through extremely worst

i can’t comprehend how people will stan literal 14 year olds just because they’re kpop idols and ignore the dangers they are going through, starting from the managment. let’s not act like the production team doesn’t know how outrageous the lyrics of cookie, WRITTEN FIRST IN ENGLISH, were and have basically used that to boost its popularity

Why is an entertainment company’s solution to scandal is to cover it up with another debut?!

I am glad that HYBE didn't just disband Le Sserafim after Garam's scandal like they disbanded GLAM...they f*cked up the whole situation from start to finish but at least they didn't kick the other 5 girls (especially Kazuha who up and left the prestigious Dutch Ballet Academy to come to a new country) to the curb

I feel like the mistreatment of girls groups happens in many companies, not just hype and so I really hope kpop companies learn from their mistakes and treat their idols better, as well as not debuting idols under 18, for a better 5 generation of groups

This was so enlightening, thank you! I think that NewJeans' songs are bops but I really have to ignore their ages to enjoy it... lots of people my age (early 20's) feel uncomfortable stanning a group so young, sexual lyrics aside. The kpop industry is freaking brutal and I can't imagine the kind of mental stress they are under. I know people have said that "lots of groups debut with young members" but 14 is just SOOO young. And that doesn't make it okay just because lots of groups have done it. I honestly wish NewJeans and LE SERAFFIM the best of luck these next few years!

I genuinely am uncomfortable with the New Jeans thing, everything about their group. The girls are surely talented, but it’s undeniable that girls this young are negatively affected by fame and overworking. The Cookie song only solidifies the truth they are attempting to conceal, it’s obvious they’re pushing the girls as both YOUNG and “sexy” at the same time. It’s hard to ignore or deny the overall effect, and it’s even worse that they doubled down and tried to claim the song was written by 2 fluent English speakers and claiming none of them believe that cookie is slang despite everyone clearly informing them that it is.

This will not go well, someday I’m sure we’ll be hearing about even worse scandals that have been so far successfully concealed

the fact that people are mad at hybe for kicking out Garam, when they are the one of the few reasons she got kicked out

The fact that Garam was proved innocent makes me want to slap to netziens and haters... they cyberbullied her... how ironic and now those same haters/bullies are stanning garam and being like "oh i wish garam was back.." cant believe how 2 faced the industry is... like i cant even- im so mad rn.. justice for Garam like bring her back

The Garam situation getting so big was Hybe's fault 100% the accusations were out before she even debuted and they had access to the full document they could've released at any time, they must've also been aware of Min Heejin's history too yet still put her in charge of New Jeans, they've sexualised pretty much all the minors they've debuted JK and Jimin lifting up their shirts, hip thrusting, etc, everything they do with Ni-Ki tbh but most noticeably fever, LeSserafim doing the WAP dance when half the group were underage and LeSserafim, s cookie and creepy director (I don't know how old GLAM were at debut and TXT had an appropriate concept) and they never do anything about their boy groups being problematic (BTS with their consistent racism, ca, colourism, disrespecting the dead and anti-Semitic imagery, TXT's CA photoshoot, Enhypen's fatshaming and the constant controversies they get themselves in) and even protect/ignore them but the second their girl groups do anything (even if it's just false accusations) they'll punish them, boycotting girls all together was a pretty shitty thing to do, they don't care about women at all. Hybe has always been shitty at dealing with scandals.
I don't understand why Hybe let Heejin reply to be honest, that's got to be the worst response to any controversy I've ever seen, not just the threats but her trying to gaslight everyone

Well, why did that dirty old man get away with it? He wouldn't have been blackmailed if he didn't give them the opportunity.

Tbh, I have a mother who would have 100% let me get punished the way Kim Garam was by the school, even if it wasn't my fault. My parents would never stand up for me or believe me and tell me I deserved it.

Edit: It's been 6 months and people are still liking this...damn. But to clarify, Garam's mother acting that way is not out of the realm of possibility because I have a parent that acted this way and there must be others.
