Hurricane Ike flooded the home in 2008 and it is my understanding, the former mayor Matt Wiggins of the neighboring town, Kemah, bought it in 2009. It was beautiful before the storm. San Leon is very small. Unless you were on the main road that took you to Texas City etc San Leon was just a turn left off the main highway, go down to the water, turn right and you were on the 'main drag' of San Leon which is where Dusty's home was. Go down to Gihooleys, take a right and just a little ways down, you were back intersecting with the main highway. VERY SMALL town. The USPS was just a small room on the end of a store haha Yeah San Leon could be cool but it could also be rough. Dusty was there a lot of the time when he was not on tour. We saw Dusty in Gihooley's oyster bar MANY times. After the storm, we never saw him again. I miss him. He was hilarious and so kind. He was one of us at Gihooleys... If you did not know who he was, you would have thought he was just a local enjoying his time like we were. I have not been to San Leon in probably 10 years but friends from close by there say the home, as of a few years ago, was never repaired just left sit to rot. RIP Dusty. Thanks for the kindness, gut busting giggles and pure joy you brought to those of us who were lucky enough to get to be in your presence during your off time getting to know the person not the performer. Both sides were amazing but the personal side was truly special.

Nice piece of information with that video, seems sad to see all in disrepair and kind of dying along with its owner as I think of all the good times once had there when there was plenty of life to go around for all and it seemed everybody was young with plenty of life ahead of them..

He couldn't have spent much time there cause ZZ Top played somewhere almost every night.
