Now that Alex Murdaugh has been convicted in the murders of his wife and son, it’s time to take a look back on all the pieces that had to come together for the jury to deliver that guilty verdict.

Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell talk about key testimony in the case and also had a fun chat with South Carolina prosecutor Creighton Waters himself.

Looking ahead, we have big plans to expand our particular style of journalism to other cases across the country — cases that would be solved if not for local corruption in law enforcement and other government agencies, but we still have a lot of work to do with this case.

Over the next few months we will be redoubling our efforts into our investigation of the Stephen Smith Case. Sandy, Stephanie and the entire Smith family deserve to see justice in this case, which should have been solved in 2015.

So this is a big day — we hope a new day — in South Carolina.

And stay tuned, we are just getting started...

I remember my heart skipped a beat when the judge said...It may not have been you. And Alex was shaking his head in agreement. Then the judge said...Maybe it was another version of you? Whew! I was glad he brought it back to him because I was about to lose it!

Marion's testimony broke my heart. She truly loved her sister, Maggie and Paul. She loves Buster, too.

Creighton is so modest, lol. What a great guy & amazing lawyer! He and the entire team deserve to enjoy some spotlight, they definitely earned it!
That said, MMP team, you are rockstars & have restored hope in investigatory journalism, seeking truth & justice!
You are the best of the best!

Meadors is the son of a Baptist preacher? I KNEW IT! He is a great orator, just stunning. Thanks for that tidbit.

I was not impressed with Alex's legal team. Insulting/condescending; looking tired, almost hungover; stumbling over questions; and, extremely poor closing. I think the jury may have seen in them the same 'bullying' Alex was notorious for. Think the family's drama is far from over...Stephen Smith.

Kudos to Mr. John Meadors!! Mr. Meadors did a Amazing job on closing!! You can tell he's a southern preacher's son.. His words were so Powerful and just common sense..And..of course Creighton & his team..

*35:00** The biggest lesson had to be how corrupt Hartpootlian is! He really showed his entire character in this case. Its one thing to defend a guilty man (they must be defended) but taking part in all the lies and sophomoric shenanigans to help Alex salvage his case and insult law enforcement and witnesses the way he did. His behavior is almost as egregious as Alex because he's clearly responsible for enabling injustices like this for decades!* 👹

Maggie's sister and the two employees were very brave in telling the truth. You could sense from the sister's testimony that she was prolly suspicious of Aiex. Imagine losing your sister and nephew, and in the pit of your stomach you think that your brother in law committed the crime. Re Stephen Smith, Bus Bus may not be involved but someone in the Murdaugh circle must be based on the investigation being reopened based on what was discovered during the double murder investigation. Where there is smoke, there is fire.
