My life changed dramatically when I moved to the Philippines eighteen years ago. I got married to a great lady a young one at that. I’m saving 65% of my income. I travel Asia. Im grateful for leaving the US and having a new home here.

My wife told me to buy FB when it IPOed. I didn’t do it because I didn’t think people would pay to use FB once the free model ended. Didn’t realize potential of advertising. I’ve missed some other great companies, but that’s the worst because my wife reminds me regularly. 😆

My biggest investing mistake was not getting started sooner (I know, said everyone ever). I was 28 years old before I starting making reasonably good decisions in life. I'm dedicating the rest of my 'career' to making sure others don't make the same mistakes I did.

Your channel is helping so many people. I love how you have a lane that you stick to that works well for you no matter what crazy hype is blowing up in the world. I hope you keep it rolling for years to come! I never used to comment on videos, but it's time to do more than smashing that like button (:

I know I have said it before, and this is genuinely not self promotion in any way, but you were a major factor in my starting my channel here. Unlike the 'huge' channels that promote a bunch of garbage. I want to help the every day investor reach THEIR VERSION of financial freedom. You like dividends, I like balance, some like growth. Pick a system, stay the course, and feed the machine!

Playing those early SSI games (pool of radiance, curse of the azure bonds etc) from the late 80s and early 90s was some of the best times of my life haha

I own NVDA. Wish I still had all my shares. My cost basis on the original shares is $0.05.

Most of my mistakes revolve around selling.

At least I learn from them, but sometimes education is expensive.😂

Selling chipotle when it went from about $400 to about $550 instead of just holding it. But the story about rats running through a store after all the people getting sick finally pushed me out of it even though it had no debt and was still growing.

I own NVDA indirectly in by retirement account. I started investing almost 5 years ago, and something I've always appreciated is that there's about 20 years of history and experiences and mistakes made by others who came before me. So I feel like I've already learned from those experiences and mistakes without having to make them myself.

Ah, the Commodore 64. My Brother in law had one and I always loved playing Bagman. That was such a cool game. I got so invested in it that I went to the 3rd board to pick up a bag of gold and brought it back to the first board to put it in my wheelbarrow. Cool game.

Apple I inherited from my dad and bought more when the stock split. I have nice Capital appreciation in it.

My kids had Disney and sold it. After the pandemic their stock price dropped, they suspended their dividend. We just thought it would take years to come back. They all bought Nvidia and never looked back.

My biggest mistake was seeing Nvidia go up 3k in my acct only to drop to a negative 2K. It got back up to about 2.5k and sold it to take the profit. Should have only sold half. Now, I have since bought it back and lost all that Capital appreciation.

But I’ve learned you can never look back. As Jim Mora once said (head coach of the Saints) Coulda Woulda Shoulda. You have to look forward.

Thank you for always sharing your learnings and wisdom with us, GenEx. My biggest mistake is that I didn’t start investing sooner. I am righting the ship on that now. Take care and have a great week.

FOMO and GREED are the 2 biggest mistakes an investor can make. Also, take some profits if you 've made a bunch off a high flyer but stay invested if you believe in the company fundamentals and outlook.

In 2022 I purchased 8 shares of NVDA and then sold out because one of my friends told me a story about how their chips are not in demand anymore. I sold my position which was around 144 a share. I missed about a 1000% gain on those shares. Even after that I had another opportunity to buy NVDA at 106 a share but didn’t bite because I thought it would keep going lower. I mean their earning still looked very expensive too at the time. So anyways I made a big mistake with not buying and holding NVDA. I did buy META however and I made a good gain on that stock because I felt I had understood the business on META more than NVDA at the time.

This time my dad tried talking me out of META at 95 a share and I told him that they just had a spending problem which could be solved easily.

I think the important lesson I learned was to research the business before I buy into the stock because it will give me a certain level of confidence behind my investment. So when someone tells me it looks bad over there for that stock I can have certainty that I know the company will be fine.

This sounds like a confession but maybe someone can learn something from my mistakes

The mistakes that really hurt you are when you decide to go "all in", and a close second is the "all out." Nobody can know the future well enough to make those decisions accurately, but people do get lucky now and then and start to think they are a stock genius.

I find the key is to keep telling myself, "I don't know" and ask myself, "what if you are wrong?" Then I make small moves that I think are correct, and sometimes they are.

When I make a mistake, I try to figure out why I made that mistake, or "what did I do wrong?" Then try in the future not to repeat that same mistake. There are plenty of ways to make mistakes, I don't need to repeat any of them!

I’ve owned Intel since 2019 haven’t sold any shares, collecting dividends while Pat and his management team work on the foundry business and release Intel 20A and Intel 18A chips. Down around 18% but had an opportunity to sell when it hit $51 a share but long term i believe in them so holding position.

My biggest investment mistake was thinking I wanted to be a real estate investor. Then the GFC humbled me with 6 foreclosures and a huge tax bill.

@GenExDividendInvestor Nice video. Generally speaking, the biggest mistakes I've made is not investing more during GFC when market was melting down and selling certain positions wwwwaaaayyy too early via outright sale or letting my positions get called away through covered calls. I've learned that it's much easier to hold dividend blue chips for the long term and not worry about selling them compared to high fliers like NVDA. Knowing when to sell is an underrated skill.
