The same person you ask if they need anything else before you leave the room, they say no, then hit their call light 2 min later because they need to go to the bathroom, and of course they're a slow x1 w/ GB+W and you don't have a tech... Then you get them back to bed, ask again, they say no again, then 1 min after you leave that call asking for a snack/juice, or repositioning, or for you to plug their phone in to the charger, etc 😮‍💨 obviously this can't all be done in just 1 trip to their room - has to be at least 3-5 times being called in before they decide they're done

I'm a bit of a frequent flyer for legitimate reasons. I have never done any of that and sent my dad to another state when I was told I was dying in an ICU bed because he made one of the nurses cry by yelling at her. I am also pretty certain that's why, despite being told I would probably die in the next few weeks, I am still here 12 years later.

We had a frequent flyer in our ER one time tell the nurse “Since Chuck (a hospital surgeon) is already here, why don’t you tell him to put in my central line now? This way he doesn’t have to come back to do it an hour from now and I can get my dilaudid now rather than later.”

Such an efficient flyer 😂

In our hospital saying his name was a sure sign that he’d turn up again. Like Beetlejuice.
