"Savagely funny" – The Onion A.V. Club

"Riotous ... inventive ... memorable" – TV Guide

Director and co-writer Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the Back To The Future trilogy) is the engine behind Used Cars — the hilariously raunchy salute to those supersalesmen who'll offer lemons while putting the squeeze on you.

Rudy Russo (Kurt Russell, Escape from New York) has what it takes to be top salesman on Luke Fuchs' (Jack Warden) car lot — he's the most charming man who'll ever lie to you. Caught up in a feud between Luke and his brother/rival Roy L. Fuchs (also played by Warden), Rudy gears up for an all-out war. Employing his gifts of gab and grift — along with increasingly outlandish sales tactics — Rudy shifts the battle for sales supremacy into overdrive, turning the lot into a high-octane free-for-all!

Woefully underappreciated on its initial release, Used Cars has since become a cult favorite hailed for its trunkload of talent in front of and behind the camera, and its rich Corinthian laughter. So tell me: what can I do to get you into Used Cars today?

The best way to see this movie is at a Drive-In theater, in a junky car, and with your favorite used car salesman. But if you can't do that watch it at home. Wonderfully absurd movie. Just totally insane. And extremely funny.

I ran a half marathon through Apache Junction yesterday. Around mile 6 someone was playing one of the themes in this film - the instrumental. I couldn’t help but think of “Used Cars”. I was a child in 1979 and recall driving by the set with family. That big car chase setting in the “outskirts” at the end is now mostly a suburb. They should make a sequel since inflation is now an issue again like the late 1970s and 1980 when Carter lost re-election.

At the Kenner Cinema, where I saw it in 1980, during the intro, someone yelled out "Marshall Bros."
- that was a Lincoln Mercury Dealer on Veterans Blvd in nearby Metairie.
I lived a few blocks from them for 20 years...there is a Walgreens and a Carabba's restaurant on that block now..

This was probably filmed just after Barefoot Executive and the Dexter Riley Trilogy and just before Escape from New York.

the older I get the more I realize Kurt Russel is the MF'ing man. The Thing, Escape from NY, Big Trouble in Little China, Tango and Cash, the new Monarch show on Apple+ ... dude is too cool.

0:14- Oh god, it's gonna have a man with an ass on his stomach like in Caligula, isn't it?
0:47- Oh, thank god. We needed a good comedy after "Oh! Heavenly Dog", which came out the same day as Used Cars.
1:08- Yes, trust me. Used Cars is awesome. It even has an estimated laugh count on the poster. That's a sure fire laugh guarantee. Not even The Private Eyes or Cheech & Chong's Next Movie had THAT.
