You know, sometimes I see this section written out with a “proggy” 21/32 bar in the middle of the riff.

But I dunno, to me it just makes more sense as a 5/8 bar. 🤔

To put it in perspective, the difference between a 21/32 bar and a 5/8 bar (or 20/32 if we’re comparing apples to apples), is just one 32nd note.

And if you can accurately play a 21/32 bar at 200++ bpm, then I think you probably deserve an award because that is one superhuman feat of timing! 😆

(Jokes aside, the thing to remember about these old metal songs is that they were rarely recorded to a fixed tempo. So the reason the tracks may not line up to a grid is because the tempo fluctuates, and not because they were playing all kinds of weird time signatures!)
