Challenger vs. Roadglide / How Do I Choose?

With so many month and multi month long road trips scheduled this year there is only room for so many bikes in my 2020 travels... I also want to ride as many different kinds of bikes as I can this year so I felt I needed to stick with one fixed fairing American V Twin

My name is Adam Sandoval and I travel the country with 2 goals, 1. Give back to our community and veterans. 2. Inspire people to live/enjoy the motorcycle culture. This channel is a window into my life and all these efforts.

Thank you for watching.

Out of the box ride ability is much more important to me then the party scene. I’m not a pack rider. I’d go with Indian. Basically you just convinced me the Indian is the way for me to go!

I'm a Harley guy, will always have a HD in my garage. That's my choice, but every rider should choose the bike that makes them happiest to ride, as long as you're on 2 wheels and happy!

I was intrigued with your commentary on the Harley Road-glide versus the Indian challenger. I too am a Harley guy and have been for years. However, you have placed many extra dollars into that Harley to get it to where you want it to be. The Harley and the Indian challenger are pretty close in the cost out the door but Indian offers much more for the dollar. For example: The Indian offers electronic locks on the saddlebags, electric windshield, and a mono shock system which provides a much smoother ride, much better lighting system right out the door and as you said they are pretty fast right from the factory.
Honda Yamaha Kawasaki have been building smaller bikes for kids for years. As these kids get older they buy a little bigger bike because these companies have them ready for them right now. When the kids become adults they don’t even think about looking for a Harley because they have not grown up with the love affair that we have for the Harley brand. They look to the companies that they’re very familiar with when they look for the big cruiser type bikes. On top of all that the younger adults today can get a full-size motorcycle from most any brand that is 40 to 50% cheaper than a Harley right from the beginning. That is a huge deal for future sales for the Harley brand. An example of Harley coming out with an all electric motorcycle but the price tag is 30 grand. Not too many young people are going to spend that kind of money just because it’s a Harley. Right now I plan to keep my 2018 street glide but next year or so if I make a change I will take a serious look at what the Indian has to offer. Dave

Please understand that I think of you as a friend (like minded), even though we have only met once. But to say that I am disappointed would be putting it mildly. You made it pretty clear that your choice was for the good of your channel. I just hate it when business gets in the way of things sometimes. I feel pretty certain that you had to factor in how many subscribers you might loose if you got rid of the Harley. This culture that surrounds the Harley brand is only loyal to those that don't drift away or leave the "heard". I am a loyal subscriber and will remain so. Rock on brother!

So, what you're basically saying is "I dumped well over $15k into this Road Glide in order to make it work for me. Since it does work exactly the way I want it to, I'll get rid of the Indian."

I cannot fault your logic, but most people here will take it as a Harely win in an Indian cs Harely comparison. Objectively, I'd say you're making HD look bad, because you are admitting that you had to dump CVO money (and maybe more) into your Road Glide to make it a worthy comparison to the Challenger.

I think I remember the Challenger was on loan from the factory. I also remember that Harley, instead of giving Adam time to heal from his injury and putting his contract on hold, dumped Adam on his ass as soon as they caught wind that he couldn't be there poster boy anymore. I've been at brand-loyal Harley-Davidson rider for 20 years and that alone made me consider getting a challenger at the beginning of next year

Bought a Harley, spent what a second Harley would cost to make it as good as the Indian lol

You made an intelligent business choice. Take advantage of what you have built into the HD community. Live it up bro.

Unfortunately, with the disrespect I see so many HD riders give to riders of other bikes, i can leave the culture behind.

So your saying, spend an additional 5-10 thousand dollars on aftermarket parts for the Harley so then it will ride and perform better than the Indian . Not everybody gets their aftermarket parts free.

Adam is talking a lot about the Dealerships and family of HD. I bought a 2019 Ultra Limited and after about 10, 000 miles it started knocking. HD tried everything in their power to not do the right thing and warranty the motor. HD cooperate was the problem. I have supported HD for over 20 years and taken up for them many times. The first time I has an issue the people proved me wrong. I just can't support a company that doesn't care about their customer/family any more than that. To make it worse they even made the dealership pay for half of the motor repair after the trade.
My wife and I both rode Harleys. We both ride Indians now. Between the bikes and apparel went spent tens of thousands of dollars each year. So for the cost of a motor they lost all our revenue. Don't quite understand that business logic. Everyone has a right to buy what they want, but this family stopped drinking the Kool aid.

Spend thousands of dollars on a HD for what Indian does out of the box. A more accurate comparison would have been stock vs. stock. Actually, that would not have been fair either...to the HD. I will be buying the "loser" of your decision this year. Ride safe

Sir I must say I applaud you for this video, it's never easy to choose when you simply just love to ride. But all of your points were spot on, so I definitely think you made the right decision.

Interesting video....In your situation, I'd probably make the same choice...Thanks for the video and for what you do for our Vets. Well done!

Your decision didn’t surprise me with everything you’ve added to the H-D to meet your riding comfort. On the cultural side, I’ve found I can go to any HD event and they welcome you...you may get ribbed a little.😂 I’ve also converted several HD riders over to Indian after going to some HD events, showing and talking about the reason I switched to Indian 👍

I ride an Indian and I think you made the right choice...bigger following with Harley and a lot more support currently.

I don't care what you ride Adam, just keep doing what you are doing. Stay safe.

Adam, I've ridden both bikes, and like you, I agree they are both an exceptional ride. But, the HD culture (and dealer support) is unmatched. I can't wait to see your next bike ... Ride on!
