Hi all - Colin, one of the developers here...

Thanks for the unboxing Alexander - glad you like it!

Re the off-set counter sheet - just to say we're looking into this.. All of our pre-printed sets were OK, and the warehouse crew have randomly-spot checked some boxes and haven't found any more, so hopefully it's an isolated issue... Any others (and you Alexander! :D ) who get a mis-cut set will get a replacement

Alexander, I wanted to give my perspective as someone who barely played 2nd edition, and dove head first into 3rd edition.

With 2nd edition, things just weren't clear enough. The information was there, but it was a mess. It was hard to digest because of the depth of scope the game presents to the player.

I have completed the entire 3rd Edition basic training manual, and I'm 100% positive that this is the greatest teaching manual I've ever seen. The pacing of what you learn is perfection. You are taught something, taught the same thing again through proper reinforcement, and then you are given the rules references ONLY for the things you were just taught.

The game never steps on it's own toes by referencing rules that aren't relevant, or mentioning anything you dont need at that very moment.

Many folks who tries 1st or 2nd edition still have a sour taste in their mouth about the messy rules and difficult learning experiences. And I get it. But this edition is a completely different beast.

Easily, EASILY the best solo wargame I've ever played. It's actually the best game, wargame or not, that I've ever played.

That's all thanks to 3rd Edition.

WW2, Korea and Vietnam is all covered in the core rulebook. It's like three games in one. It has long been a fantastic value. I don't think I played anything but WW2 for the first five years I had the game. It's all really good, though, all three chapters. I especially like the airborne assaults of Vietnam. BTW they aren't that hard. Once you get through the WW2 learning curve, the rest is cake.

I would hope GMT would send a replacement for any countersheet that badly printed.

This is such a fantastic game, and the new rules layout is much better. I hope this lets more people get into it, as its one of the best wargames, let alone solo games wargames, ever made

Been eagerly awaiting my copy from the P500. Hope it shows up soon. I’m very excited to get this on the table.

There's also an upgrade kit to upgrade your old FoF Vol 1 (1st or 2nd Ed) to the Deluxe Edition. I've just done this with my copy, it takes a while but is well worth it. The upgrade kit contains three countersheets, mine were all perfectly aligned, FWIW. The new training manuals and new expanded rulebook are excellent. I'm finally back into this game after waiting literally years for the upgrade kit to come out via P500.

This is a game I would have got back in high school or college when I had a lot more free time.

All my counter sheets are printed perfectly.
It’s apparent that not all copies are affected by the misalignment issue highlighted by this vid.

Looks like a very impressive production. I just now held a chat with a rep at GMT regarding the 2nd countersheet misprint. Doesn't seem like they knew about it so they are going to check to see if its just a few copies affected or the entire production run, then let me know since I was enquiring if they would replace it if I purchased it up here in Canada. If the response is positive, then I'll for sure buy this as the game has always interested me and this seems like a good upgrade edition from what I can take away from your comments Alexander.

I had original, sold it, the one thing that looks good is the step by step introduction to the game. Plus, the spiral notebook

Dang. I’d better check my copy for misprints.

Damn, you need a separate box for just the manuals.

Wow it's been sometime since I've seen countersheets that messed up. Unfortunate. OTW, great edition.

Avalon Hill's Starship Trooper had programmed instructions, it was a good way to learn the Rules and the slow approach of reading the rules and a quiet playthrough has been valuable with other games. Glad its in Fields of Fire. Not the game for me though.

I passed on the first edition, despite playing mostly solo. Just wasn't interested in Korea and Viet Nam tactical. But the game just looks too damn good, so I'm waiting for my P500 copy.
