I can assure that its completely fine to do this because i have done it for literally 5 years straight and without any hiccups or issue on my potato pc as it was over heating due to hot environment and removing the side panel drastically improved the temps and fps stability as it increases airflow outlet. Also keep this in mind that I don't have a cat or anyone who would infiltrate the pc components inside and i recommend cleaning the dust every week or 2 if you keep it open all the time. I usually use it openly then when i shut down i put the side panel back on so i have to clean it only once every month.

There is also one more thing that makes removing the side panel worth it: If you have it on the floor you can put your feet in when it's cold if you're careful

you can also mesure out and 3D print a brim to fit in a plexiglass panel, is what I did on my dell precision 3620 and it looks dope, and if you are complaining that not everyone has a 3D printer, 3RD PRINTING COMPANIES EXIST, you send them the files and get your print shiped out

When my GPU fans broke, and another time when my CPU fans were broke, I blew a fan directly into the open side panel. Best cooling temps I've ever had

I removed the side glass panel and put on a filter mesh with magnetic tape for attachment. Easy to remove and clean, and cools better and all the parts inside are visible. Although not like through the glass.

I didn't do it on purpose. Some years ago, I'm about to give my beloved rig some cleaning. So i take out the TG, and somehow my finger slipped. TG fell down on the desk, and unalived itself into million pieces. That's why i running an "open PC case" rn.

As someone who's a bit lazy with cleaning his PC but lives alone and has no pets, yes, you can do this without a problem for a prolonged time.

If you want your room to be under (billion) degrees, keep the side panel on

Someone remember famous Chieftec cases from early 2000s, i used to run 3 configurations in it without side panel for 17y.
Never had any issue, with side panel it used to overheat during summer so it ended up as no side panel no problem permanently.
Only drawback is having to blow dust with compressor every Saturday (once a week)

Replace it in 2018 and i still miss that TANK, I used it as a leader to catch things from top of wardrobe
