I changed from such a large boiler to an HR-heater many years ago. I immediately saw my gas usage go way down. No doubt you will notice that also. HR-heaters are very efficient in contrast with huge boilers wasting energy while keeping the water warm all the time. If you get warm water immediately depends if the internal small boiler is constantly heated or not. If you turn that off in the settings it will take longer to get warm water, but you will save on gas usage. You can also combine it with a small electric boiler for under the kitchen sink. In that case you'll have hot water immediately. Also something to keep in mind is the water temperature. This has to do with Legionella disease (20-45 degrees Celsius), which can be deadly. If you use like the shower regularly, it won't be a problem. Otherwise it's advised to set it to at least 60C/140F or above, which will kill any bacteria. Or with a lower temperature flush it all if you have been away for like more than a week.
