One could argue that the Lore goes all the way back to the Taco Bell Saga. During the Scaled in Icy era they did a promo with Chipotle. But in Taco Bell Saga, they claim they love Taco Bell and dislike Chipotle.

It starts at blurryface. In doubt he literally sings about the bishops and it's literally called blurryface. Vessel can be added purely for the name vessel. In vialism you are used as a... Vessel!

I don't think the storyline goes back to self-titled, and I'm not sure about vessel BUT I do believe the vague IDEA of Dema first appeared in March To The Sea.

What’s really funny is that the cover of ST is legit the saturation leaving his mind and on the floor you see buildings that kinda look like Dema.. it’s all connected but not in a lore way… remember this is all in his head and it’s made by the same guy so it’s all part of their story but not all of it is connected

Vessel is the first part. And if you ask me it's tied to the Chlorine and The Hype part of the dema story, if you know what I mean, it has a seme vibe to it.
And Self-titled is a prototype of the dema story line. You can also count Regional At Best as a prototype of the story, but it was just a way of making money for the boy in there begging. I call it a prototype because it has a lot of the same ideas and plot lines as the dema story

I feel like Josh has to be in the lore. To me, it only goes back to Vessel for that reason...mainly cause I love Josh

I think tyler began to think it up during blurryface, dropping small hints like doubts bridge, fully dove in and began it during trench, and after the outside mv and the introduction of voldsoy and the “vessels” for psytokinesis with migraine playing there, vessel is retroactively in it, self titled could maybe be as the first song they ever made has the word dema in it “implicit DEMAnd”. As well as a car a torch a death being a small nod to the past 3 album cycles

I just remembered something, in Nico and the niners music video I see them use a some kind of metal rod with a lightbulb attached to it I could be wrong, if I am wrong then self-tiled is not canon of the Dema lore

The vessel album and it’s songs not so much but the live era yes they were starting to experiment with storylines and characters.

In March To The Sea if you listen closely to the background vocals, it sounds like it says “Dema” almost. I’m not certain what it actually says, but a friend pointed that out to me a few years ago.

I believe Vessel explores the idea that the "I am Clancy" video explains: vialism and being unalive means being a vessel for the miracle. Blurryface would be the corruption of the nine bishops, specially Nico, and how they turned evil (how they lose their battle against their own demons). Then Trench happens in the eyes of Clancy some time later and we know what's next.

I think he had the thought of the story beginning in his mind around the same time as self titled but I don’t think it was fully thought out until maybe vessel
