Betadine antiseptic solution (also called Povidone- Iodine solution) is one of the most important first aid items you can have. Betadine is used in almost every Emergency Room in the country to clean out open wounds prior to suturing. I always carry a 1 oz. bottle with me in my first aid kit.

To use it you mix 10 to 20 drops in a cup of water and then wash the wound thoroughly with this diluted solution. Never use Betadine undiluted. You may need to use a syringe to clean out any dirt or other debris. Follow up by rinsing with pure, sterile water. Close wound with sterile bandages. LEAVE SUTURING TO THE DOCTORS AT THE HOSPITAL. The risk of infection is too great with amateur suturing, especially without properly and thoroughly cleaning out the wound first. Betadine can be purchased at Walmart, Walgreens, or any other drug store.

Great video as usual, i do travel and live abroad most of the year and realised that having few kit for different use is often needed. Having check list and simple how to do card inside is good too( someone may use the kit on you without ever having a training), refresher course are really great and watching your video few times help that for sure. If you take meds abroad
having the prescription translated for people to help you can be good too.outside the us and canada the employees of pharmacy are really great help if you need antibiotics (no fear of law suit)
