Genesis 15:1-6 (NIV)—
“After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:
“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”
But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”
Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”
Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.”

"I wrote Generations on top of a roof, in the middle of the night, gazing at a beautiful Kansas sky. My friend read the scripture in Genesis about God’s covenant with Abram, and it inspired me. If you’re like me, I desire family. A BIG one. It simply blew my mind to hear God’s promise to Abram, and it was even harder to fathom as I stared into the infinite amount of stars in the sky above me. Not only does God promise the BLESSING of family, I believe he’s calling for the REDEMPTION of each family. I see families returning to his presence, and receiving the full and complete blessing of his favor and pleasure. Sometimes all we need is a reminder that we truly are apart of that promise today, and we can lean on the scripture to declare and claim what our awesome dad promises. He’s gonna finish what he started in you and your family. This is a song to release that truth." - Colten May
