Our New 2022 BMW X3 M40i!

Here is our new family car, the 2022 #BMWX3 #M40i replaces our Range Rover Sport. In this video, I offer up some of my initial thoughts and include some sketchy audio work.

They actually removed the auto on/off button on all M40i's because it has the 48 volt battery which is supposed to make that auto start/stop much smoother.

I have the 18/19 model
Other than a few electrical glitches for the revised or new release models the car is awesome
The B58 motor never disappoints

Macans are pants. I've had two. The first one had a transfer box failure at 16, 000 miles. The technician at the dealers said I'd done well to get it that far before it went. The second one had a catastrophic leak from the sunroof (blocked drains) that filled the car with several inches of water. Porsche took 4 weeks to fix it.

Daniel you can put the car in sports mode and individualise it to normal comfort settings, this will remove the start/stop.

HINTS:🎖
SPORT MODE = The new start stop button.
The Harmon Kardon audio is indeed factory set to "Flat Equalization - - - - - "
Go through audio the menu to adjust your bespoke audio preferences .
Also, create a "DRIVER'S PROFILE" so these settings will be recognized each time you drive the car.

The mileage does appear after started it'll be located on the screen upper right hand (middle) or press the "BC"
(It stands for "Board Computer" ) on the turn signal.... ALSO this will pull up the SPORTS DISPLAYS

I'm a new (ish) owner had the X3 M40i built here in the USA took delivery in October.
More power than my previous Audi A3 and BMW X1 hatchbacks and way more fun than the BMW 30i .

Great vid! Thank you for sharing. Fyi: They removed the button for auto start/stop on all their latest cars. I'm driving a 2019 BMW 3 series (G20) and it is one of the last ones WITH the dedicated button to turn on/off the auto start/stop. You can only deactivate it by using the sport mode now.

There isn’t a start stop button on any X3 LCI. It has nothing to do with your removal of comfort access.

re HK stereo, theres lots on the BIMMERS forums re setup of the Logic 7, along with setups of all the frequencies, suggest you do some research - one of the options I read was to turn it off completely, and the sound is better - awaiting delivery of mine soon.

To turn off the auto start stop option is to set/configure the Sport Individual options to ALL comfort mode. LOL or do the ECU MODS

I can't believe they removed the Start/Stop button while still keeping the function active 😞. I hope they removed that annoying feature completely and particularly non-sense on a M car. Please let us know latter if the start/stop is still there.

I've had an X3 M40i for 2 years now. One of the best cars I've owned. That engine is a glorious thing. Can be annoying though. DAB reception is awful. Truly awful. You can't switch the media off on it's own. Just Mute it. So when you next start the car up, the audio is playing, but on mute.

I had an Ghost fitted to mine, as I was also worried the car would be stolen.

Like you, I found the sound coming out of the speakers to be not as I expected. I have the HK speakers too. Came from an Audi with B&O which is far far superior in sound quality.

Will probably get another new X3 M40i after this one, or try an 340i Touring.

No way to disable the auto start/stop, but with the mild hybrid system it isn't bad at all. Can switch to Sport mode or Sport shifting to disable it. The disappearing odometer is very annoying. Can get it back by cycling through the displays using the upper button on the top stalk, but it's in a different location. I swapped out stock 20" Bridgestone Allenza 001 RFT's on stock wheels for a winter setup using 19" OZ Racing Hyper GT wheels and non-RFT Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 XL. Reduced unsprung weight by a HUGE 64 lbs. I was amazed that the ride quality was only marginally improved, so the stock Bridgestone RFT's are really not that bad at all in terms of comfort quality. They Bridgestones definitely contribute to sharper steering feel, though.
