NJ Devils SHIFT OF THE YEAR + PLAY OF THE YEAR = GOAL OF THE YEAR | Jack Hughes & Jesper Bratt MAGIC

The New Jersey Devils beat the Chicago Blackhawks by a score of 4-1 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on 12/14/24.

The highlight of the game (and the season thus far) was Jack Hughes potting the Game Winning Goal in the 3rd Period.

This goal came as a direct result of SHIFT OF THE YEAR by Timo Meier, Nico Hischier and Dawson Mercer. This line had the Blackhawks PINNED in their zone and desperately looking for a clear they could never get.

Jesper Bratt gets on the ice and makes PLAY OF THE YEAR by quickly closing the gap on a Blackhawk and running him off into the glass, stealing the puck and getting it up the boards to Brett Pesce. Jesper Bratt is indeed HEAVIER.EDGIER.MORE VIOLENT.

Pesce then finds a streaking Jack Hughes, and the rest is history!

I was at the game. Right there in Section 21. We sat behind Commesso’s family. He played so well up until the 3rd. We felt bad for his family, but oh so good about that sequence! That hit by Bratt was the turning point in the game capitalized by Jack’s goal!
