Karl Taylor & Broncolor 'How To' Capture Sports Motion

In this shot my goal was to capture the 'unseen' motion in the action of the baseball players swing. In sports images like this often the technique of the sportsman is too fast for the human eye and specialist flash techniques are required.

Hi everyone, one of the comments below from 'awadamson' was about the cost of three Scoros, however I would like to point out that if you needed Scoros for something specialist like this then in London I can rent them for £38 each per day. So if you are not in a position to have enough consistent work to justify ownership then rental is a good option.

Hi Karl! Wanted to know if this technique works only with the scuros or can do the same with external flashes or other studio lights? Kindly reply!:)

Hi Karl
great how to video would you be able to do a similar shoot using the Siros lights
also could there be more how to videos using the Siros Lights in the future

Blured motion trails were going to add more impact to this shot, freezing just the last frame. Is it an issue with this strobes using them on very low power level, like you can use speedlights.

Good evening Mr. Taylor.
About the settings of the flashes, are decided with the experience or with the aid of a light meter?
Excuse me for my scholastic english. :-)

I am trying to get a good action shot of my husband sailing his catamaran but they have not been very successful at picking up his face or very sharp. i have managed to take some good action shots of windsurfers. Any tips welcome

Karl: very amazing setup. Is there a more economical way to reproduce this without having to buy the Score power system?

Is this only supported on the 'newer' scoro packs or can you do this with the move packs or siros 800L?

Karl, I am looking for a similar shot for a basketball player but i'm still in learning process and have only an external flash. Can i have a similar shot with that? Kindly reply :)

The only issue I have with this How To, is that Broncolor sets up this kind of stroboscopic/multi flash mode way different from any other company that would have this feature. Most, allow the user set the number of flashes and the interval or frequency, in Hertz (Hz). Dividing the frequency (measured in Hz) by the number of flashes desired gives you the shutter speed at which to expose the shot. It is never mentioned in this How To, what shutter speed or aperture was used to expose all the flashes.
