Canon T2i 550D Magic Lantern Meters Tutorial

I just got in the Tokina 11-16mm zoom which I am reviewing right now, I should have a video on that pretty soon, and the door bell just rang and the Konova Slider just got here so keep an eye out for that one as well.

In this tutorial I am test out Magic Lantern's meters.

* Histogram for white balance and exposure
* Waveform monitor for exposure
* Zebras for checking if my blacks are totally black

All of them seem to be working pretty accurate from what I can tell.

Just so you know, at 2:55, you go down by pressing the "Play" button, the one you use to see your pictures etc on the card. ^_^

Dave, the "Disp" button is used to lower the white balance values in magic lantern. ;)

Thanks for the care and effort you took to make and share this video. However, I was a little confused by "Blacks set at 255" as a Black Level (at 4:55 on the video). Video Black level should be 7.5 IRE and whites at 255. (Clipped to around 248 for broadcast). Did I misunderstand?

@daddytech The Tokina 11-16 is not a fisheye. There is basically no distortion with that lens, it is purely a wide angle.

You have to press the Display button (DISP.) right above the lcd-screen to go back in the settings.

@Parrott65 Well I've read that It slows down your camera, and shows more grain in video. Also you now have a mod on your camera and If something were to happen like a short circuit, when you send It in for a fix, They won't because of the mod. For now I will just use work arounds for the same effects Magic lantern can provide

@twilightzonereviews I've been using it for quite some time and can tell you that it eats up the battery quicker, but it doesn't do anything to the video quality. As far as taking it in for repairs, the entire firmware is loaded on the SD card only and not on the camera. So, the repair shop wouldn't even know you had loaded it unless you left the SD card in it when you took it in for repairs. I just wanted to make sure you knew the situation with ML, because a lot of people are concerned.

@daddytech I shouldn't have said there was no distortion. But it's not the same kind of distortion as a fisheye. A fisheye creates a circular, curved distortion, but wide angles like the Tokina 11-16 are a more wide, side to side to distortion. And the Tokina is definitely less distorted than other lenses of its kind.

To go down in numbers try pressing the DISP button. To go up you press OK. Did it work.
