Imagine being in a huge 80s metal band and being able to trust your lead singer to fly you around in a 747. Nice!

Ed Force One was a 747-400, new to Air France in 2003, registered F-GITH. She was purchased by Air Atlanta Icelandic, towards the end of 2015 and was re-registered as TF-AAK. She was leased by Iron Maiden for their 'Book of Souls World Tour' and returned to Air Atlanta Icelandic and being leased out to Saudi Arabia Airlines. Currently stored at Kemble, awaiting her fate.

This was a really incredible thing. Bruce is like superman in terms of accomplishments. My hero.

It made sense for them too because they could include everything for their tour on one plane. This included crew, equipment, the band, etc. All they needed was an airport to land and they were set. Bruce was a commercial pilot for a while between concert tours too. There are some very funny videos here on YT with ATCs during their flights.

Now retired, I flew B747s for Atlas Air. One contract I flew was for Rolling Stones. If I remember correctly, moving all their stuff from Adelaide, Australia to Auckland, New Zealand took a half-dozen loads. Now you know why it costs so much for a concert ticket.

Bruce Dickinson is the GOAT of heavy metal. He used to be a fencer for Britain National Team, a history professor, and later a commercial pilot. Apart from that he defeat the throat cancer and now still singing for Maiden!! 🤘🏻

They used to fly in a Boeing 757 earlier and I took close up photos of the aircraft and spent quite some time with Bruce Dickinson.

So cool how metal-sexy Bruce was while playing in the band and then so handsome and professional in his Pilot's uniform. 😊

Even crazier, Bruce is also certified to fly the 737 and 757, and, while not certified, flew an A320 (there is an awesome video about it, look it up). He's also part of a group that recreates WWI battles, and he goes in his own goddamn fokker triplane replica. Because doing all that on the side of his music career wasn't enough, he's also a world-class fencer. UP THE IRONS!

Iron Maiden flew in a Boeing 757 before the 747.

I’ve seen a 747 with a rock band livery at the gate at Paris CDG, though cause I don’t care much about rock bands i can’t recall which. That was well after 2015.

There's a way cool documentary on Flight 666 that talks about it.

The short story behind it is they wanted to go where their fans were for a concert, so they did what they needed to to make it happen
