Lore For Noobs - Garrosh Hellscream

Garrosh Hellscream, son of Grommash Hellscream, was a Mag'har Orc living on the Garradar Settlement in Nagrand. When he was young, he was ill with a sickness known as Red Pox, leaving him unable to join the fight against the humans of Azeroth. Not knowing much of his heritage, Garrosh would question Greatmother Geyah about Grom, but the stories she was telling werent exactly what he expected.

Over time, Garrosh became an important chief to his tribe of Mag'har, aided by long-time friend Jorin Deadeye, son of Kilrogg Deadeye. Feeling unprepared for leadership, Garrosh falls into a deeper depression when the Greatmother falls ill, knowing he is next in line to take her place if she were to pass away. He feared he would only repeat the mistakes of his father.

For many years, Garrosh was ashamed of his father, until finally Thrall, learning of the Son of Hellscream, found him, gave him a swift kick in the ass, and told him of his father's heroism in the third war.

During a peace summit with the Alliance, Thrall brought Saurfang and Garrosh, as he thought it would be good experience for the young Orc. Though it was going quite well, the Twilight's Hammer Clan attacked Theramore. King Varian Wrynn noticed Garona Halforcen among the attackers, and assumed Thrall had sent her as an assassin, much like the shadow council had done to Varian's father. Garrosh, who the whole time wanted to crush the Alliance, rather than trade and keep peace, accused the Alliance of plotting the attack to lure Thrall into a trap. While no real blood was spilled, Garrosh took it as Varian and the Alliance as insulting the Honor of the Horde.

Before marching to Northrend, Thrall, Sylvanas, Saurfang, Putress, Rehgar Earthfury and Garrosh consulted on an approach. Thrall wanted to consult Jaina on Alliance movements, but Garrosh thought the Horde should just go ahead without the Alliance, and crush the Scourge. After a squabble with Thrall, Garrosh challenged him to a duel. Just as Garrosh was starting the get an edge on Thrall, the scourge attacked Orgrimmar. Thrall halted the duel to defend against the scourge while Garrosh prepared to head north to begin the Horde's Offense.

Now Overlord of the Warsong Offensive, Garrosh was in strong contrast to himself from only two year prior. Now hot blooded and rather than downtrodden and apathetic, Garrosh lead the armies of The Horde with power and aggression. During a summit to Dalaran to discuss the newly awakened Yogg-Saron, Garrosh once more had a terrible clash with Varian Wrynn giving even greater pause to peace negotiations.

Currently, Garrosh has been appointed Warchief of the Horde, after Thrall stepped down to aid the Earthen Ring.

@tgfromrunescape the orcs before they were corrupted by the warlocks were red, but when they became corrupted the corrupted orcs (and those who had been sufficiently exposed to fell magic)skin turned green.
Garrosh was sick, and quarantined, so he was not able to come into contact with the fell magics until several years later, by which point it would seem that it had stablised and would not corrupt with proximity any more.

Varian was split into two, a gladiator in horde areanas, defeated Onyixa, broke into Ironforge after Moira was being insane, went to face the Lich King at his own home, attacked UC after the Wrathgate incident, went into the Emerald Dream to help fight the Nightmare and yes, he sits in his Throne room because he is not part of another group that he feels is more important helping than the Alliance at this current time. He does help more than you think and he is pretty BA.

I don't care what he puts for the BA rating, it's his choice, but I would put Thrall up with Saurfang by putting them both at 9s I'd say. I would drop Garrosh to a 7 and crank Grom up to 11. Also, Varian is probably a 9 or 8 in my book.
In other news, I love this series and don't want it to stop. Keep it up, Pride!

I like Garrosh. He didn't drink the demon blood, and hes father is amazing. He makes a good warcheif in my eyes, puttin' back the war in warcraft <3 Hes also really good at thinking things through, hes getting more and more mature into the cataclysm. If you get me?

C'thun is still around, Exhibit A: his grossly mutated and insane pawn Cho'Gall, leader of the twilight hammer. You could say that AQ40 and Ulduar were merely setbacks.

@OmarNachtraaf yes there are honorable orcs, and varian has actually made attempts to work with thrall in the comics, but due to misunderstandings they never really connected. also, you have to realize varian grew up in a different era as thrall. varian grew up around war and saw orcs as monsters, while thrall grew in captivity and saw his people as victims. i wouldn't exactly call varian intolerant. his anger makes him do foolish things but he has shown a soft spot for orcs like saurfang.

@Haasth22 imo saurfang should be warchief. and i'll admit the main reason he's warchief is cus blizz wants to step up ally vs horde combat, but there is a lore reason for it as well.
