I just put two carts together and it made it over the gap. I also saw the Game Grumps use a hook and hang the cart from the bottom of the unbroken rail. There is also the fact that if your careful you can walk across the rails like a balance beam. So you have options.

Yeah I stared at it for a few seconds after the first time I fell off and went "right, so we just hang the hook on the good rail and go"

i also tried to offset untill i figured out the cart could be used as a gondola and the hook is put in the middle standing up, then all you need is to hook the gondola on the left track below it and place 2 fans on it (on on the hook on top, and one on the back of the tada now you have a gondola that can go along the track

All you need to do is attach the hook similarly to the way they did(with the hook rotated one turn counterclockwise), then hang it from the connected rail, jump in, and activate the fan.

The way I got around all of the mine cart rails was just consistently shield surfing up

Just put the hook on the left side of the cart and a plywood on the right side. As the cart turns sideways, it will hook itself due to gravity and then the plywood on the right side will be your platform where you can stand on.
