While he was the leader of Mexico's Knights Templar cartel, the late Nazario Moreno González lived in his heavily-guarded ranch, “Fortress Anunnaki.” It was from here that he operated the cartel, as well as a casino and massive rodeo.

VICE News traveled to "Fortress Anunnaki” in Tepalcatepec to find out what has become of the Knights Templar stronghold a year after the death of its leader.

The thing reporters don’t understand is that when they come and report/interview innocent ppl asking all types of question they are putting the persons life at risks. And by watching this documentary and them not blurring anyone’s face is just straight up stupid and nonsense smh.

I’m surprised she survived that ordeal!!! Most journalists tend to lose their heads in that neighborhood.

She is playing a very dangerous game, and certainly not from a position of strength. rc

This isnt the Knights Templar that you think 😂😂😂 that is a Mexican drug cartel. You really have no clue just how lucky you and your crew are to even be alive to upload this.

Y'all are going a bit too deep perhaps? That seems like very dangerous territory.

1:07 My heart stopped immediately because I knew that that area is cartel owned. It just a bad feeling. That crew was very lucky to live.

that guy in the beginning is so right. no one in mexico talks because there are THOUSANDS of videos online showing decapitations of "snitches" and traitors. there are THOUSANDS of bodies that have been hung from public bridges to instill fear into the mexican people.

i was born in mexico, and brought to the usa at the age of 4, and i want to visit mexico so bad, but my parents wont let me go because they say i can get into trouble.

You're telling me that she decided to drive thru a road that had a road block? They obviously put that block for a reason, to not let people in and they actually go and meet the cartel people head on. To be able to walk out with their lives is a miracle

Vice has done a pretty amazing job at covering cartels... this however is a terrible video. This lady may have tried to come off as courageous and daring, but instead came off as completely stupid and childish, openly exposing the locals and even putting her team through trouble. They could have easily ended up as just another gruesome execution video smh

Vice really let me down by putting that man in danger and then act oblivious of what the out come would be. I really hate vice behavior for this .

Dumb reporting. Putting locals in danger. She thinks she can get away with it because she's international. She's full of herself.

That's what she gets for going in that town acting all cocky.
