Everyone has been asking if the new macOS Sequoia Beta is compatible with older Macs using OpenCore Legacy Patcher. I'll give you a quick status update on the current situation. Let me know if you have any questions!

I want to thank both Mykola Grymalyuk (khronokernel) & Dhinak G (dhinakg) for your work on OpenCore Legacy Patcher + all of the contributing developers that help maintain the patcher. OCLP brings new life to thousands of Macs and saves them from the recycler!

DISCLAIMER: Please understand that installing macOS Big Sur on your unsupported Mac is a best effort by the community. A ton of work went into getting the patcher to work! Some things might not work exactly right but it's really really close. I would not recommend installing on a system that you rely on for work or school. ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR FILES FIRST BEFORE YOU UPGRADE! The good news is that you are getting the latest security fixes from Apple. Some might argue that upgrading to Patched Monterey makes your Mac safer since Apple is no longer fixing security issues on 10.13 and below.

This very sensible down to earth cautionary update from Mr. McIntosh is exactly why he is one of the best on YouTube. I say one of the best because I have to give a shout out to Jessie‘s Flying for being another fantastic presenter of helping us with our old max and OCLP. Both of these guys deserve so much credit and appreciation for the work they’re doing helping all of us other goofballs.😄😄

I'm definitely not one to jump on each new release. With my Mac 5, 1 I held the line at Snow Leopard for ages. I eventually moved to Mavericks, skipping the intervening releases. That was followed by High Sierra, and then finally Mojave -- the last release with 32-bit application support, and the last supported OS. Over the past year I dabbled with OCLP and later macOS releases, but always on a separate "playground" drive. Last week I wiped that drive and installed Monterey via OCLP 1.5.0. I then added a Mojave VM under Parallels for my handful of 32-bit apps, and am endeavoring to do all my work with that configuration. So far, no real issues.

I took the same risk by installing macOS 15 beta on my MacBook Pro 2015 just to see the difference. Just the root patches were not able to update. It was great to see OpenCore do its work though. Played around for a while and then reloaded macOS 14.5. I will now wait for the official release. It was good fun though.

Hey man, I have an important question!! Do you have a video where you explain hot to fix the “the conexion network could not be found error” for MacOS Catalina?? I only have found the one for macOS High Sierra video here in your channel. I would really appreciate your answer. Thank you so much. Great videos!

It is a beta one for macOS and I had a horrible experience with trying to beta load Sonoma onto my Intel Mac. It was slow and barely worked.

Did you remove 2GB of RAM or is it just a Sequoia Beta issue with unsupported Mac?

I think that if your Mac is old enough to need OCLP to run the current MacOS, then it's a really bad idea to run a beta version of the next version on it, unless you're willing to wipe the system clean if it breaks
