Autism Acceptance Month: Autism Speaks

April is autism acceptance month and CBS News LA is highlighting some of the organizations in our community helping families affected by autism.
Autism Speaks is trying to create a world where all people with autism can reach their full potential. Autism Speaks provides advocacy and support, helps advance research for better interventions and promotes worldwide acceptance of all autistic individuals across the spectrum and throughout the lifespan

Autism Speaks has been widely denounced by the greater autistic community. Due to their harmful rhetoric to portray autism as "a depressing tragedy, " a strong push for "an autism cure". Pushing for therapies that "fix behaviours" which causes PTSD. Created a eugenics hub in MSSNG. And have created one of the worst PSA's of all time called: I Am Autism.

Worst yet, despite the fact that they call themselves 'Autism Speaks' they don't actually listen to autistic people. And do more in their efforts to try and silence and discredit them instead.
