Iceland: 12 Rules for Life Tour: Lecture 2

I was in Iceland in June and gave two lectures (June 04, Lecture 1; June 05, Lecture 2), followed by a Q and A. I was hosted by Gunnlaugur Jonsson, who also introduced both talks.

I've been using the lectures as an opportunity to extend, develop and publicly test the ideas I presented in 12 Rules and Maps of Meaning.

My wife Tammy and I had a remarkable and memorable trip to Iceland. My mother and aunt also came for the adventure, and were treated with exceptional care by Gunnlaugur and his crew. We are looking forward to returning to Iceland in 2019,

I opened a birthday letter from my brother-in-law and sister today. Inside it read, "If you aren't willing to be a fool...then you can't become a Master, " followed by, "Mark your calendar! Oct. 11 Jordan B. Peterson VIP." Had to hold in some tears of appreciation for this incredible gift. It'd be an understatement to say Peterson helped me get my head straight during a difficult time.

I set myself a challenge today....to listen to a JP lecture and pause to write down meaningful and inspirational statements he makes in my journal as I listen. 4 hours later I'm halfway thru and my wrist aches

I attended this lecture with my girlfriend back in June. She had heard of Jordan only through me and the Icelandic media, which was trying to portray him as an alt-right woman hater. She is the typical facebook/9gag etc. person who mindlessly scrolls through memes and funny cat videos. During the intermission I asked what she though of all this and she told me that she'd never even thought of responsibility or ideologies in that manner and she had a completely new perspective on life. I believed her,
because she never once checked her phone or squirmed during that hour. Now she's halfway through 12 Rules for life and we definitely communicate better and are more open about what we want from our relationship and life in general. Years ago she stated she never wanted to have children, but now she asks me hypothetical questions about raising children (I for one would like to have a little demon one day, not essential and I would never pressure her into doing it). I could say a lot more how this man has helped me and mine, but him helping my significant other have a new and more positive outlook on life is the best gift one can give. Thank you Mr. Peterson.

My kids will forever be thankful for me finding your videos.
I'm a single mom from Colombia with lots of issues just like all of us but I can't thank you enough. You've helped me alot.
At first I thought after starting following your theories and advice that I would never have dark days again.
I was so wrong
Once I gave up and tried to scape my responsability in life, once I got into Crack stuff just went downhill. Lost my place st school after being at half of my major. Lost the gift to live with my kids *which I'm almost gotten back now! * and had to do a bunch of stuff.... But then rehab came and I even searched your videos there and told everyone about you.
I value so much what you do. How many life's have you helped to emprove? I honestly think there are so many of us and is just wonderful.
I was so sad to know you had been trough so much lately. I pray for you and I hope you keep feeling better.

I saw Dr. Peterson in Wallingford CT on Friday night. I got my picture taken with him. If you like his lectures in video they pale in comparison to seeing him live on stage among thousands of other people who appreciate his work.

Jordan is a seer of truth on a mission that is to heal Humanity. Reminds me of a paragraph I read in a book by Deepak Chopra, Unconditional Life, that was the moment I changed my life.
"Once a person has even a little courage to confront their old conditioning they will find that turning inward starts to dissolve that conditioning. Presently, the prospect of turning inward is extremely intimidating to most people but, It Is The Only Way, the mind can conquer its built in resistances.
There is no cure from the outside.
The lack of meaning we presently endure will only become worse and in time... Humanity might get too sick of itself to recover"

Excellent lecture. I went to the library yesterday to pick up your book '12 Rules for Life' and 36 people in front of me have it on hold! Yikes! guess I need to buy it.
