I am sharing on my page! I have a lot of people in my life who just don't understand that Alzheimer's is more than memory loss. I've seen mom change over the years since diagnosis. She is not NOT the same mentally as she was prior to diagnosis. Dad and I take care of her- he's more in tune to the overall change. She was so much a lady, so confident and capable- a gourmet cook who now can't cook at all. I give her direction but she says "I don't know what you mean". Mom used to drive, balance a checkbook, was always the one to clean the house and take care of my brother and me. Growing up, the house was always perfectly clean, we always had home cooked meals, mom helped us with our homework, did art projects, birthday parties & decorated our cakes, etc. I've posted pictures on my page of all the things that she's done over the years- so much artistic talent! She did calligraphy as a hobby. She worked as a beautician & was a store manager before she decided to be a stay at home mom. Anyway, you are so right Vicki in saying that Alzheimer's is more than memory loss. Mom's soul will always be there, it's just that her mind & body are not the same at all. Broken brain. I can't make it better but I can hold her hand and walk with her until this journey is through.

Excellent Vicky! Thank you! I would love for you to talk about vascular dementia. My mom was diagnosed with that and alzheimers. We are definitely recognizing the symptoms of vascular dementia but not the alzheimers so much. Thanks again for the wealth of knowledge you are sharing with us on this devastating disease. Much love!!
