The Most Awkward Moments We All Witnessed On Chopped

Chopped is one of the longest-running cooking competition shows on TV, with a run dating back to 2009. It's no surprise it has such longevity. It's always entertaining to watch a professional chef try to make something delicious out of a basket of random and often strange ingredients, with a 30-minute time limit to boot.

Chopped is an intense environment, given the time crunch, the competition with the other chefs and the promise of $10,000 for the winner. So, of course, there's bound to be the occasional confrontation or mishap in the kitchen. Sometimes it gets very weird. Here are the most awkward moments we all witnessed on Chopped.

What do you think is the most awkward moment from "Chopped"?

"I don't like well, it's part of the dish...dishes on Chopped shouldn't be based on what the judges like/dislike, but on how good they really are.
I mean, if a judge dislikes chocolate, but you make a great chocolate brownie, then too bad for the judge.

Judge: “This is not a game.”

Sir, you are literally on a show where you judge chefs that are forced to use random ingredients in 3 different entrees in order to win money.

The joke now is, “if I ever get on chopped and Scott Conant is the judge, I’m making everything he hates and watch as he’s contractually obligated to eat it.”

"I don't like onion." Well you're in the wrong business then. With the exception of salt, pepper and some sort of cooking fat ie: butter, oil etc.... Onions are probably the most used ingredient in a kitchen.

I wished you’d show the actual clips instead of talk through them, But still fun.

I can't believe I just watched a grown woman, a chef at that, throw a grease-fire aflame pan in the sink and turn on the tap WITH A SMILE.

Onion off the bat - like, if you’re a pro chef and judge don’t say “ohh I don’t like this so I’m rating you poorly”

I’m honestly shocked Scott really threw a small fit about raw onions, If he doesn’t like the taste, fine, but to limit another chefs abilities because he is being picky shouldn’t be allowed on chopped. Plus, I’m sure the other judge/s don’t mind raw onions so really his preferences shouldn’t matter when it comes to judging another chefs creative and technical talent. These chefs have very limited time to come up with a dish within seconds to execute it. Can you imagine an Art Critic looking over someone’s Artwork because they don’t like a certain color? Ridiculous.

Eel blood is highly toxic, which is why you've never heard of eel sashimi. It's just too dangerous.

They are judges not gods I love it when they get put in their place.

If Gordon Ramsay were a judge he would straight up drop kick Chris out of the kitchen lol

Scott and Zakarian are such pampered, little boys. They're not giving actual critiques but rather their own opinions. Like dudes, there's always 2 other judges with you. It's not only your preferences that matter.

2:54 This chick also appeared on Cutthroat Kitchen and got her comeuppance for her awful attitude on Chopped All-Stars (and more so The Next Food Network Star) when her entire blender of sauce fell into the trash can.

Not the “I meant the basket” after she thought she was getting complimented. 😂

Chef: "i hate raw onions"

Waddayou a baby? That's not judging whether food is good, that is called being a big baby.

"I feel that this was much better than the first round..."
"Thank you."

"I meant the basket"

Being a chef and not liking certain food items is odd, especially being a judge as well. It’s literal kiddie to give someone low scores bcs YOU don’t like the certain item used

Being told about something awkward is a so much more of an experience than just seeing the awkward moment.
