Update on the 1990 Haas VF1 X axis motor trials. We have a winner.I mounted the DMM-Tech 750W AC servo with the Dyn4 drive. The auto tune was uneventful. I scrounged around for a DB25 male connector and wound up using a cut off cable end from my junk box. I have ordered new connectors for the final install. I had an issue when I first drove the motor with UCCNC. It was stupid slow. I was having to feed it with 50,000 steps to get it to crawl. I messaged an internet friend that is using one of these for a spindle motor on a Taig mill. I asked if I had to set the encoder count or something. Yep, they call it gearing. Basically they multiply the incoming steps to get it to play nice. After that, I was able to get decent movement, calibrate the steps per inch and then got a dependable 400 inches per minute. 500 alarmed the drive. Probably needs a braking resistor to go faster. The motor is dead silent, but at 400 IPM, there was some noise from the axis. You can hear it in the video. I suspect it might need some lube, as I have yet to wire the lube pump to the new control. I will probably buy 2 more of these DMM sets for the other axes.
