Perhaps, if you do more work, a video of the vocal folds with arrows indicating how it looks and works inside a living throat would further clarify things, especially for those who are not doctors or SLPs. I am a singing teacher.

The epiglottis does in fact move from vertical to horizontal when we swallow, and is called epiglottic inversion. The larynx does move up and forward out of the way to protect the airway. But both parts are essential.
