► ABOUT THIS HIKE
In September-October 2023, I hiked the John Muir Trail, a 350-kilometer (215-mile) long-distance trail that is often considered one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the United States. It stretches from Yosemite Valley to Mount Whitney (4,421m, 14,505ft) straight through the Sierra Nevada mountains, passing through Yosemite National Park, the John Muir and Ansel Adams Wildernesses, Sequoia National Park, and Kings Canyon National Park. Along the way, it passes over 9 major mountain passes: Donohue Pass (3,323m, 10,902ft), Island Pass (3,205m, 10,515ft), Silver Pass (3,180m, 10,433ft), Selden Pass (3,094m, 10,151ft), Muir Pass (3,558m, 11,969ft), Mather Pass (3,700m, 12,139ft), Pinchot Pass (3,797m, 12,457ft), Glen Pass (3,585m, 11,758ft), and Forester Pass (4,009m, 13,153ft). Along the way, I wildcamped and made 2 resupply stops, in Mammoth Lakes and Bishop.

This is an ambient film without dialog.

I am 56 years old, 5feet3, cancer survivor. I love to hike but my limit for a day is about 10 miles and I am not fit for a long trail. I enjoy ur video. I feel like I can experience a long hike that I am not physically able to do by feeling nature. Beautiful❤ and amazing! Your video I am able to sense earth breathing.

Spectacular cinematography, editing, color, composition and storytelling. The best movie ever done about this trail and in my opinion one of the best movies ever made published on YouTube.

What a splendid example of "show, don't tell". The visuals are so good but what struck me every bit as much was the sound editing: the wind in the trees, the water, the rain, the sharp inhale when submerging in an alpine lake, the bird calls (beautifully captured), and (through it all) the metronome of your steps.

I can't believe the video is two hours long, it just flew by.. I sent the link to a friend and warned her, "it's a bit long, 20-30min". Good thing I rechecked that before hitting send.

Harmen, you are a miracle! Three weeks alone out there. Perfect cinematic video, perfect sound impressions, perfect outdoor behavior, energy and power to do this. Only 5% of you in my videos would make me proud like a little god!!!

My tripod 😂😂 How did I hike like that?? Haha! Enjoyed the trek all over again - everything from the light, sounds, and scenery. The Sierra never gets old!! Makes me wish I was there…even though I was (for a minute!) haha 🙌 Nice job my friend 👏 🏕️🙌🌲

Im saving that to my special to watch for later!
Im not sure if you know but John Muir was born here in Scotland, Dunbar where I live. Its a small town but sooo beautiful with golf courses, cliffs, big beach, JM forrest park, family Zoo etc. His home is a museum with lots of pictures and about saving the national parks etc.
I finished his trail here in Scotland, its a coast to coast walk. Anyway proud moving here with my family and so happy!
I hope I get to come to Usa one day and hike JMT and see what you saw.

I ordered his book "Our national parks' a few days back and it arrived today. What a coincidence and how wonderful it is that I can watch this video and start reading his book afterwards!
