I have a special fondness for Kelly because she was one of the last big Barbie developments when I was still actively playing with the dolls (I was about 11 when she was released). It was also a relief to not have to hoard loose babies from doctor or babysitter sets for when I wanted to give my Barbies big sprawling families.

I was obsessed with Kelly dolls as a kid. My mom bought me every Kelly, Tommy and their friends (Chelsea, Melody, Marisa, Jenny, Tamika and a bunch of others) we could find in store in the early-mid 2000s. I called my entire collection my 'Kelly dolls'. I wasn't a big fan of the Barbie dolls and I only had a few of those, so I don't think I had many (if any) sets that had Barbie and Kelly together. I mostly had the individually packaged dolls, but some Kelly and friend sets. Also, as a kid, I totally thought Kelly was Barbie's child and the few barbies I had were the moms when I played.

I sooo miss yhe Kelly/Shelly dolls!! I wish they made them again, they were so beautiful!! Now we have the same mold for little toddler dolls, but they have painted hair and it's not the same...
And yes, o happy we have removable clothes for chelsea...my daughter also enjoys it so much more!

What I love most about Kelly is that she came with dolls, dollhouses, doll strollers and a bunch of toys which just represent a little kid so well. Not to mention all the furniture she had

The “Kelly” in the wedding set was released prior to Stacie. Mattel later changed the name of the character to Stacie.

My favourite kellys are for sure the princess assortment line in the early 2000s(rapunzel, Princess and the pauper ect)i had shopping Kelly in the 90s with magnets on her hands..good times.
