Airalo Review - Best travel eSIM? (tested in 4 countries)

In this Airalo review, I’ll show you how to easily set up @airalocom eSIMs, how they worked for me in multiple countries, and some important mistakes to avoid.

International eSIMs are a must-have for travelers looking to stay connected on the road with minimal hassle.

The best eSIM for travel allows you to have an internet connection as soon as you arrive at your destination, without having to bother with pesky physical SIM cards or pay expensive international roaming fees.

My wife and I personally use travel eSIMs for our data when traveling abroad. And after trying out several eSIM companies in multiple countries, Airalo eSIMs have been the easiest to set up and use so far.

This video is brought to you by Airalo, but after extensive testing for 5+ months in 4 countries (and counting), all opinions are my own.

Heyo! Mitch and Day here 👋🏼

We’re just your typical American-Colombian couple determined to live every second of our precious time here on earth to the fullest. After a 10-month solo backpacking trip through South America, I (Mitch) stopped in Cali, Colombia to take salsa dancing classes 💃🏻. I only planned to stay for a couple weeks, but God had other plans for me. I met a cute Colombian girl (Day) in class, those couple weeks turned into a couple years, and before we knew it...we were married 👰🏻🤵🏼

Now we’re traveling the world full time as digital nomads, supporting ourselves by working online 👨‍💻👩‍💻

Our goal with these videos is to inspire you to step outside your comfort zone, give you an inside peek at our crazy imperfect lives, and show you that you don’t have to be rich to live an extraordinary life...all you need to do is make the choice!

Bought the Esim from Sydney airport’s partner to cover New Zealand. Got there, phone couldn’t or wouldn’t connect. I had already downloaded the Airalo app so signed up and in seconds, I was up and running. Airalo Esim definitely saved our trip. Great product.

Hello again!
I've just arrived back from Argentina. The Airalo eSIM worked wonderfully in all the places I've been to: Buenos Aires, Ushuaia and El Calafate.
Thanks again for the info!

This, and another YT channel convinced me to use an eSim, specifically Airalo. Bought one and I am so happy I did. It works perfectly. 👍🏻😊

Hi again, again. No, I have no intention of spamming you. :)
Just as warning, I've heard reports there's hardly any internet access in El Chalten. I can't confirm it because I haven't been there, but we've heard it from people who've been there recently.

BTW, I also tested it in Brazil, where I live, in the Rio de Janeiro area, and it worked just fine.

Thanks again for your video.

I love Airalo. I travel globally for work and it has never let me down. I only found out about it 6 months ago and wish I had found it sooner because it would have saved me a small fortune in data roaming costs from my U.K based sim card.

The process of installing the esim is slightly simpler on Android, at least it is on the Google pixel.

Good video 👍

Just back from two week holiday in Sri Lanka. Ordered 10GB/30d eSIM from Airalo. It worked well in Colombo, Kandy and in Ella. On the southern coast the data connectivity was barely there, for example in Galle and in Mirissa we struggled to order Uber due to low connectivity.

Great video, thanks!
You mention that you leave your primary line on as well as Airalo so you can get calls and texts….that will cost you huge roaming fees from your carrier as well as the Airalo eSIM cost. Not sure if you’re going to pay roaming fees with your carrier anyway (which includes data) why even bother with Airalo. I use Airalo but have my primary sim turned off to save the huge roaming fees. I simply do without SMS and just use iMessage with Airalo. I don’t need to receive calls either as I’m on vacation and don’t want to be bothered with phone calls.

International eSIMs are perfect for when you arrive in the country, but afterward they are widely surpassed by local sim/eSim, you just have to find out before you leave.
As an example, in Brazil, for what it costs 10 GB in 30 days, without calls, you can have more than three months of unlimited calls, 36 GB of data, 36 GB to watch YouTube, unlimited WhatsApp, this includes sending videos, photos and audio, WhatsApp calls are not included.
It is a 15-day plan that includes 6 GB of data, 6 GB of YouTube, etc..., the plan is automatically renewed as long as there is balance, which is recharged with a credit card, in case the data runs out before you can anticipate the renewal within 15 days and have the data available again.

Thanks for the info. I’m getting ready to take a trip to a couple of Caribbean islands and this seems like it’ll be perfect!

How would've thought that I, a Caleño, would end up following a nomad who lives in the same city and married to a Caleña, and who gives excellent information about having a nomad lifestyle, while preparing myself to start my journey of living in S.E. Asian countries as a solo traveller and working remotely.

Thank you for your time and posting. Going to Vietnam to see if I want to retire there. I think I can use Google Fi, but if dropped, I can use Airalo for data but keep Fi for text and calls for my home phone. Thank you again. :)

Sorry, I'm still a little confused. Is this strictly data only, calling and texting not included? You have data and you were able to facetime home to the usa/canada without wifi but what about calling and texting home? Or calling a local number in the country you are visiting? Also what if someone from home wants to call or text you? Is that possible with Airalo?
