There are already few versions of this, like the panel setup with a pipe spraying water on the top of the roof so water can both cool and clean the panels as it flows down, and the conical panels that spin so the part in shade can cool down. Obviously there are issues with adding such complexity in the system so most likely it will be both cheaper and easier to just use regular panels and add a few so the output after calculating for lowered efficiency will still be enough for your needs.

It doesn't have to fake being a leaf (I'll bet money its not leaf like at all) that has nothing to do with the "advancement". Its a cooling system. They put cooling on a solar panel.
