Modular vs Non modular PSUs

Hey tech enthusiasts. What’s the difference between modular and non-modular power supplies?

Non-modular PSUs come with ALL cables permanently attached. They're typically cheaper and slightly more reliable due to direct connections.

BUT - you're stuck with every cable, even ones you don't need. This creates cable management nightmares and restricts airflow.

Modular PSUs, on the other hand, let you connect ONLY the cables you need. This means:

- Cleaner builds
- Better airflow
- Easier cable management
- And simplified upgrades

For most builders, the cable management benefits of modular PSUs are worth the extra $15-30, especially in smaller cases.

However, if you were to ask me, I’d go for the non-modular one instead. It’s cheaper and I tend to use all those cables due to the number of fans and disk drives I have in my system.

In the end, it all boils down to personal preference.
