The first time I heard a countertenor sing was when I was in a boys choir many years ago. We were preparing for a tour of Europe. One day during rehearsal the choir's director introduced us to the soloists for the piece, Gabriel Faure's Requiem. I saw three guys and one woman standing on the stage. You can only imagine the confusion in the room. One of the singers was a fairly large bearded (yes, bearded) man with glasses. He was assigned to sing all the alto solos in the composition. When he opened up his mouth to sing I was totally stunned by what I heard. I didn't know that a grown man like him could sing SO incredibly high. I was shocked then and I'm still shocked after hearing this man here sing so beautifully. It truly is a gift to be able to sing like that.

He was enjoying singing and we were privileged to hear him. What a voice. No need for a microphone. People came from all areas of the airport to hear them. So glad he was able to join pianist. Great job both of them
