World Lupus Day - Dr. Padmanabha Shenoy

This Lupus Day 2019, was nothing short of a Miracle. Lupus Trust India, Dr. Shenoy's CARE and Kerala Arthritis & Rheumatism Society.

With the help of our Prime mover Dr. Padmanabha Shenoy (Clinical Director and Consultant Rheumatologist CARE and Advisory Trustee of Lupus Trust India) spoke on behalf of each Lupus patient sitting there. Bringing tears of joy to our eyes, he addressed every topic we fear. Right from Social Isolation to unemployment of the chronically ill Lupies. One of those topics which has a high level of stigma attached to it "Lupus and Marriage".. and how relationships have come to a sad end due to lack of acceptance of Lupus.

Dr. Padmanabha Shenoy is a gold medalist alumni of the prestigious JIPMER. He is also a specialist in clinical immunology and received his DM from SGPGI, Lucknow. After completing his training, he founded the first academic department of Rheumatology in Amrita Institute of Medical Science. After heading the department for 5 years he founded CARE. He is known for his compassionate approach and cost-efficient treatments he recommends for his patients. He was appointed as Rheumatologist Ambassador for Asia Pacific League of Association for Rheumatologists (APLAR). It is for the first time an Indian Rheumatologist is being appointed to this post.

But life gets back smarter and smoother after that initial stage. Then normal.... Just live like you haven't got anything. The doctor will take care of it.
Great respect to Dr shenoy for giving such positive talks and realities rather than simply making the patient worry and distressed as some other doctors do.

You are doing a good job ! Society should be aware of this disease and mental problems related to this . Most families and patients hear this disease lupus for the first time when they get diagnosed or other wise having less awareness of this might be the reason that lead to late diagnosis which is even sad. Having someone to support through out life really helps in being in remission so fast🤍👍
