I'll never forget that time in 2011-2012 when I really wanted to explore the Gamecube's library outside of what I had or had borrowed from my friends. Back when game stores were filled to the brim with games or you could hunt down a copy of a "hidden gem" online at a reasonable price. Got most of the RPGs I wanted online and my local Blockbuster was sitting on gems for literally under a fiver. I got stuff like Eternal Darkness and Skies of Arcadia for the price of a 2L bottle of soda. To see the prices today of those same games I got for a song a decade ago is pure insanity. Hell I didn't even get everything I wanted and now it's nigh impossible to find something common like Mario Kart Double Dash for a price that isn't highway robbery! I'll appreciate what I have and sail the high seas for the rest.

Wow. Had no idea that Gamecube had gone so crazy over the past few years. I'm also glad that I got all of the games I cared about 8-10 years ago. My best find was at a flea market. $5 on a complete copy of Fire Emblem Path of Radiance. A guy was selling a bunch of tools and a few dvds. I couldn't believe what I saw under the stack of movies. My heart nearly exploded it was beating so fast. He asked for $5 and I couldn't resist haggling to $4 lmao. Sits nicely on my shelf now and I'll always have the memory of finding it in the wild.

It’s definitely crazy. I remember when games like SA2B and Sunshine were $20 all day long, then in 2020 when everyone was stuck at home and began revisiting retro stuff, prices spike heavily.

Thankfully some of the games are starting to come down but a lot of key titles are still really high. I had to do a PayPal pay in 4 on common titles like Mario Party 6 because they are so expensive now adays

I think once all the speculators realize nobody wants to pay these prices except them, the market will correct itself.

I bought Fire Emblem Path of Radiance back in like 2014-2015 for $70. All I’m missing from it being complete is the manual, recently decided to look at the price of it on eBay and the manual alone is currently $130. CIB is ~$300. Prices are ridiculous.

I'm a collegue student and I'm triying to get the games I know I will like, but obviusly I don't have a lot of money. So with a lot of patience I've gotten 15 games, some a litle expensive, making trades and resaling other games the hardest one to get will be Fire Emblem because it is just soo expensive.

GameCube has been insane for sure!! Had no idea this was your second set! Now all I can think about it who bought it?
Shocked by Disney Sports. Wowza!
I’m shocked by Geist. You’re right, that’s one we’ve seen so many times too.
We had Samurai Jack and traded it. Just didn’t love it and we found it for cheap. No regrets.
I also noticed that you have everything in USD as well so even more expensive CAD.

My wallet hurts just watching this as I’m a Canadian going for a full set as well. Started last year have just shy of 160 games so long ways to go. Losing hope tho on the rare games :( hopefully I’m still able to find some good deals out there

I remember walking into my local retro game store and gamecubes were $30.
I miss that time...

I've got a number of assorted Gamecube consoles, all modded and I've collected the library digitally. It saves a lot of room!

I'm collecting gamecube games now but not going for the whole set. I only buy cheap. They are all rare in my area but I have been able to find them for 1.00 and 5.00. I get a a lot of the good ones on trade ar my local game store. I'm all about cheap, but that is getting more difficult. Great video.

Fun fact btw, I found Rally Championship (american version) on Swedens biggest online marketplace last year sitting at 10$ buy-it-now. The listing had been there for the last 3 months according to the list date. Tells you a lot about the general knowledge of new "collectors" nowadays. All the Pokémon-collecting-"I KNOW WHAT I HAVE"-normies are destroying the scene. It's sad.

I picked up a platinum gamecube on goodwill's website the other day for $36... came with a memory card and need for speed, hard to beat that

I’ve been trying to collect all the Pokémon games, and the US prices for Box Ruby and Sapphire are depressing me beyond belief. Especially since you can get the JP version for $30 CIB max, or under $10 without the accessories

Nice! I used to have 400 Gamecube games before they were stolen in 2012. I've been building it up recently to about 250 Gamecube games. I still need Bust-a-Move 3000 (one of my favorites), Roadkill, Summoner A Goddess Reborn, Wallace & Gromit, Tube Slider, Blood Omen 2. I think for 1st party, I'm only missing Chibi Robo, Fire Emblem, and Pikmin 2.

I didn't realize Rally Championship was so expensive.. I miss that game. I bought Lotus Challenge loose for $5, but it needs to be resurfaced. The good thing is that I have a lot of the Gamecube cases from when I was younger, so if I can find loose games, it is a plus.

And I'm pretty sure I've seen Evolution Snowboarding somewhere for a pretty reasonable price. I'm going to have to check again.

I have a bunch of gamecube games but my gameube was lost during moving. I need to look into selling them after this video

Great break down and price history for some of the games.
Thanks for sharing the double completion hunt story.
It is good to see the GC get some more attention but sadly it has brought in speculators.

I so happy when I saw your video back to 2018 and I pick the most rareones games, 2019 I pick some GC and I bougth Wii U rarest games, in 2020 I back keep buying GC and I piked dobles, I take a risk and spend a lot of money, like Gotcha Force $450, Disney Sport Basketball $400 etc, I bougth my collection on Ebay because in my area is imposible to find the rarest games complete with all inserts and like new condition, so I have top 20 GC dobles 138 titles and I super happy with, thank you for your video back to 2018

I'm glad I purchased the cube on release day some 22 yrs ago now. I wouldn't bother getting one now, especially when you can purchase a switch or even a wii u and get everything from the gamecube on those systems and not limited to gamecube either. They go all the way back to N.E.S and Gameboy. Im even thinking of selling my gamecube with a wave bird and the Gameboy player attachment cause it's just sitting these days.
