As I was watching this I couldn’t help thinking that the guys in my favorite bands for many decades are slowly passing away. In most cases I’m 10 to 15 years younger than them. I’ve had the great experience of enjoying their music for a long time and also experiencing a touch of sadness when the instruments they played go silent with their passing.

Yes music will never age. And Rick Wakeman was right in the middle of it all. A giant.

If this guy keeps practicing, he can really be something some day!

The bar was so high in the almighty 70’s and he is one reason why.

Rick never fails to amaze. Tony Kaye was a great keyboardist BUT Rick brought YES to astonishing levels. Oh geeze I remember seeing him do the Journey To The Center Of The Earth and more at the Nassau Coliseum gosh I don't remember the year that all happened. He had the quire, the orchestra and narrator and blew my socks off, and to top it off he's a great Comedian. We are all starting to loose our greatest musicians and bands slowly but it is happening to our selves also. What great era to grow up in.

He is not only seriously brilliant, he might be one of the nicest people on the planet. I had the true pleasure to meet him in Los Angeles on his most recent visit, at a Meet & Greet. He took a great deal of time to tell stories and answer questions. An incredible composer with a massive catalog ... I have and love them all!

I was there. Rick in his Red Army overcoat, unhampered in the least. What a supernatural experience.

This is one of my favourite songs from YES. When I get tired of music and different songs and some of the mundane things of life I put this on and it is like a breath of fresh air. It takes you on a journey and away from everything in your life. I put the piece up there with anything done by Bach Beethoven, Rachmininoff. This rendition is very evocative and it shows just what a classical piece of music it is at its root. After the music is over I feel refreshed and I can enter the world again!!!! Thank you YES!!!!

I’m lucky enough to be going to see Rick next February in Manchester UK. This put me in a very reflective mood thinking about all the spectacular YES concerts I have enjoyed in days gone by. I’m 68 and seeing YES in the 70’s was an incredible experience with the Roger Dean stage sets and unique album covers. Their music broke all the rules and caused a sensation. It is sad but inevitable that things move on and our heroes leave us. R.I.P. Alan White and Chris Squire.

Who else was singing along (while listening to Jon Anderson in your head)? Awesome!
