My Art and Creativity PODCAST:

Snapchat: LironYan3

In today's video I'll show you a very fun and useful technique to improve how you perceive 3D objects, and we'll do that using POKEMON 😁

This involves mainly drawing cross contour lines.
A variation on this can also be redrawing the subject from different angles.

Here's what we'll be talking about:
00:00 - Introduction
00:23 - Rubber band & Ball Shape
04:21 - Boxes & Cylinders
09:20 - Complex Subjects - Pokemon!
18:50 - Conclusion

I hope you enjoy this technique and find it useful 😊🙏🏼
Let me know what you think of this type of video, as I'm trying to add different drawing and painting subjects that interest me and may not click with everyone.

Also - I hope the new camera recording looks good.

Thanks for watching!
- Liron

Thank you! I understand cross contouring now! I had trouble understanding the orientation and which way the lines went. I liked that you took your time, did not speed the video, explained it well, and used Pokémon as a reference which helped tremendously.👍

You never fail to hit on something that I have struggled with. This was helpful. You make it seem simple, , , it takes practice. Even as you did a few on the characters, , , I thought I saw which way you would draw the line and I was wrong on a few of them. It makes me go cross sighted and shake my head when I practice. It’s like I know I’m wrong but my hand isn’t listening to my head. 🤦🏽‍♀️. Thank you for sharing and keeping it simple.

So this is a little fan-girlish, but I snagged the two Faber Castel pens. Nice, easy lines.

This is very usefull for me. I'm working with a 3d pen daily to make small figures like pokemon and other stuff. Getting a better understanding of shapes and forms in 3d can help me a great deal to improve on my own work I think. Thank you for this great explanation 👃😇

Thanks for the video! I can't wrap my head around the legs of the first pokemon. I think I would draw the contour lines in the opposite direction when looking at it from above. Your version does look right when you consider those shapes feet not legs?

I appreciate this informative video. Cross-contour is something I struggle with so it's good to have more examples. :-)

The boxes look stupid in full perspective. Or maybe you angled the outside lines (the ones going up and own) too much inward.
