Zipline's new delivery drone is designed for rapid, at-home deliveries within a 10 mile radius. The company gained success with its initial model, first used to deliver blood to hospitals and clinics in Rwanda. Now, Zipline is trying to gain a greater foothold in the U.S., delivering food and medicine straight to customer's doorsteps. While companies like DroneUp, Wing, and Amazon Prime Air are also working in this space, Zipline hopes to be the first to scale drone delivery in the U.S.

Up to ten miles of range and now up to 6-8 pounds great progress. I would love to see this used in dense urban areas I wish it was in my area. I think if you set an ultimate goal of delivery range up to 25 miles and a top package weight of between 10-12 pounds you will have the perfect delivery system.

As someone who lives 15-20 minutes away from big economic centers I need this in my area now. I miss having delivery access to dozens of locations.

These comments drive me insane dude, why are they trying to make this a bad thing? It's literally better than a car in every way possilbe.

Amazing. Reducing packaging. Better for the planet. It’s such a milestone. Love it.

What about people who live in tall apartment buildings?

It'll be really cool to see bigger drones in the air, like car size, and bigger. Sooner rather than later. Exciting stuff

When will this come to other countries like Germany? I know that it will probably take some time for it to be used often even in the USA but I'm just wondering

Definitely a better way to have a pint of Ben and Jerry’s delivered.

American car dependent cities are perfect for these drones to operate! With mostly flat houses with big yards, less dense high rises, and big distances from businesses to households with only cars can conveniently access. This can significantly reduce cars off of the streets!

Anyone concerned about safety needs to think about how unsafe cars and trucks delivering packages is. Plus pollution and traffic ect. Makes so much sense, which is why it will probably be blocked 😂
