A single young Triceratops is the only one of her clutch to hatch. Her mother must lead her only child through the wonderous but dangerous Cretaceous landscape.
I love dinosaurs. I've loved dinosaurs for as long as I can remember. Dinosaurs appear in nearly every single one of my animated shorts in one form or another, so I honestly think it was only a matter of time before I created a dedicated short about them!
I stuck to a simple premise and a strong theme. This short is the most fun I've had animating in a while. I don't think I'll ever tire of bringing dinos to life. I'm particularly proud of the colour-palette in this short. It's striking and pulpy and I tried to tell a lot of the story through the colour-choices and colour-changes.
Hope you guys enjoy this one! ^_^

This is a re-upload. My original video had sound effects from the video game, "The Isle". I have now replaced them with my own sound effects.
EDIT: Apparently, a bunch of people have told me that I missed one at the end when the T.Rex yawns so I checked the file and they're right. I'm an idiot. I'm not reuploading this a third time to remove less than 2 seconds of sound though (a sound effect which is edited and mixed with another). I've tried to get Dondi's permission/attention but he doesn't seem to care. Go check out the Isle or whatever.

I love dinosaur animations like this, they’re so calming, because they show Dino’s as animals rather than monsters

This hit me H A R D-
"The evil has its own young,
Evil could these be?,
I think not, says their mother,
Simply born with sharp teeth."

I remember someone asking a child which runs for its life, the tiger or the deer? The child said it was obviously the deer. The child was corrected, for both animals were running for their lives. The deer runs to avoid being eaten and the tiger runs so it may eat.

The line itself “Simply born with sharp teeth” gives me chills every time! You truly have a talent

Hungry looks a lot like evil, if you are on the wrong side of the cutlery.

I absolutely love how you portray as the carnivore not as a villain, but as an animal who needs to eat for it's self and feed it's young.
Edit (almost two years later): Why did a comment pointing out the obvious purpose of this animation get so many likes lol. I still appreciate it, thanks y'all.

The term monster is completely subjective
“To a canary a cat is a monster, we’re just used to being the cat” -said a very popular dinosaur movie

A lot of the animations he makes are sad but wholesome.

This is what we must remember when it comes to nature nowadays. A lioness isn't cruel or monstrous when she kills a baby gazelle. She's just trying to survive and see to it that she and her young live on.

I freaking love this!
The feathers, the colors, how accurate is the anatomy, how you treat them like animals and not like monsters, the animation, the narrator, ...
I LOVE IT.
From a biologist specialized in paleontology how makes paleoart. THIS IS PURE GOLD.

You simply cannot blame the T-Rex. That is the way of nature. Although loving, and full of care, mother nature, was never fair.

One mother's sacrifice for another mother's babes. Not out of malice or hate, but as a hand of fate. Not if they could, but because they should. And so,

One mother's sacrifice for another mother's babes.

I've always hated how carnivores are portrayed as evil simply because they need flesh to survive.

"If a monster cares for others will you still call it monster?
And if a cute baby kills its brothers will you still call it cute?
The cover of the book is different from the pages."
Said my parrot once

“Are you... mine?”
Mother is confused.
She’s looking for a sign.
The rest seem unmoved.

“Yes! You are mine!”
The Mother states with glee.
“You’re small and round and helpless,
but I can tell from your blunt teeth.”

“Most outside are friendly.
The swift, the tall, who fly.
Being so close to ground,
it’s nice to have more eyes.”

“Don’t worry. Blunt teeth
and beaks, four feet.
None here have sharp teeth;
just stay close to me.”

The swift ones run away,
the tall ones turn around.
Both with heightened senses
stuck so close to ground.

“What made them run in fear?”
Mother is confused.
“An evil monster is near.”
Her young she cannot lose.

Mother is to defend,
Slow but tough and strong.
Her young one not so behind her.
The young belongs.

Every twitch another monster.
Mother is convinced
She’ll never leave her youngster;
Evil monsters do exist.

The young one cries out,
But Mother is too late.
The evil monster lunged
And sealed the young ones fate.

Mother’s instincts shattered,
Scared and confused of what became.
“So round and small and helpless…”
With only herself to blame.

With this broken mother,
It seems the evil doesn’t good.
But the evil doesn’t eat.
The young was not its food.

The evil has its own young.
Evil could these be?
“I think not, ” says their Mother.
“Simply born with sharp teeth.”
