2016 Mazda3 GT Hatchback – Redline: Review

As the perennial "zoom-zoom" favorite within the compact car class, Mazda's 3 still offers plenty of features to appeal to drivers looking for a stylish, fun, efficient, and practical daily driver. It's a must drive if you're shopping in this segment and should still put up a good fight against the newly redesigned Honda Civic.

Mazda makes lots of fun cars but because of their small dealership network they are not getting as much attention. I would definitely choose mazda over civic and corolla.

seriously the mazda 3 2.5 is a phenomenal car! id picked this over a civic 1.5l turbo any day. i had a 2.5 11 hatch and that car was the most planted and well made car for a "sub compact" vehicle. this is truly the poor mans audi A3 which is a compliment.

This is easily the best car in its class. It's the only one with any semblance of driving dynamics and doesn't have a god-awful CVT.

It is what it is supposed to be. Speading around town never ends well. This gets you through quickly and efficiently. I am very happy with the reliability of my 6 so far.

how does this car compare to a 2007 honda accord? i know you love both cars and so do I.
specifically how do both compare when you step on the gas?
you mentioned this car is very responsive to shift to a lower gear if you mash the gas. the 07 accord does this very well too.

Just a small clarification- Both the 3 sedan and hatchback have dual-exit exhaust for all trim levels and engine configurations. However, the exhaust tips are visible only on the hatch. For reasons unknown, Mazda decided to hide the exhaust on the sedan.

Wow, the fuel economy is impressive. Nissan for example has to use a CVT and a lower displacement motor to get similar numbers.

I own a 2016 Mazda 3 &it’s a really good car. I have the Grand Touring with Leather seats, Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control, sunroof, backup camera, Bose Stereo & much more. It is a really good & nice car & it’s fun to drive anywhere. I would recommend this car to everyone who wants a great car. It handles great & gets great fuel economy. I have the 6 speed automatic transmission because I don’t Like driving a stick too much because I get stuck in traffic sometimes & I do some city driving too sometimes. The seats are so comfortable. I would recommend this car to everyone who wants to buy one.

After living with this exact trim and color for 1.5 years, I'm mostly happy with it. My biggest complaint is that the heater does not get warm in the winter, if it weren't for the heated seats it would have be unbearable. Also wished there are HVAC vents for the back seats where my kids are, even if there weren't any heat coming out of it, still better than nothing. Second gripe is that the sheet metals on the car is thinner than your typical Hondas and Toyotas, the hood flexes when you lift it and I got lots of little dents from winter driving when cars ahead of me sends the loose gravel up. Another gripe is the lack of thigh support in the seats, I am 5'-7" and a good part of my thigh overhangs the edge of the seat, leaving it kinda tired after a commute. I think Mazda made the seats small in order to give more legroom front and back, false economy in a sense. For the positive things, I agree with everything mentioned in the review.

I bought this car about a month ago and it is absolute love. I have the s GT as well in crystal blue mica with the almond interior. For a VERY long time I went back and forth between this car and the new Civic. In my personal opinion, the Mazda wins. The driving dynamics are far superior and the Bose audio system sounds amazing. The Civic was so underwhelming and over hyped. I couldn't be happier about my purchase and I will recommend this car to every person watching this video right now!

When I use waze, I can't here the voice unless I'm in the bluetooth/aux section. Does anyone know if there's a way to hear audio from your phone, like google/waze map voice even though you're not in the bluetooth/aux section.

Mazda3 seems like a small car moreso than trying to compete with the compact rental car class. I like Mazdas! They make their cuts, but they clearly have the goal of "We have $X.xx to work with, what can we give them?" I appreciate that so much.
