Small correction. Mermaids don't drown people they typically just wanna be left alone. Sirens drown people which are similar to Mermaids except for them mostly hanging out near rocky shores and singing to cause shipwrecks by distracting the crews with a seductive song. Chances are if Mermaids did exist they would just be trying to stay away from humans in unpolluted areas in an attempt to continue living a healthy life for as long as possible only interacting with humans once it was impossible for them to continue doing so on their own or because we forced them to interact with us by limiting their healthy habitat so much due to one reason or another.

The show called "Siren" actually shows some of the potential differences due to Sirens wanting to rage war on humans. It has however nowhere in mythology been stated that Sirens and Mermaids are different or the same species so for all we know it could be similar to any form of government where one side is for something and the other is against something. Which would make one side Sirens and the other some form of idk green party I guess similar to republicans and democrats if you refer to their original believes anyway since nowadays it seems blurred and only matters which opinion gets them more votes.

10:37 is perfectly valid standard notation, every note head is on an actual staff line (or space). Yeah the beams are curved for the whole picture to look like something (I suppose something in Arabic), but that's no more 'ungrammatical' than say using crazy whitespace inprogramming code to make a picture.
