At @Enabling World we want to take a moment to extend my deepest gratitude to Anita Guha, Peter Mostachetti, LMSW, and Dr Saumya Goyal and the enthusiastic participants who participated in the panel discussion on “Demystifying neurodiversity at the workplace”. The insights this panel discussed and the #expertise were invaluable and helped create a dynamic and thought-provoking conversation that left an impression on all who attended. Thank you, Sanjiv Jain, Sushil Tayal (He/Him), and RAJESHWARI Narendran for your contribution to making this discussion successful.

Key highlights for Panel discussions:

1. The importance of #WorldAutismAwarenessDay is to create awareness around #neurodiversity and to be kind and supportive to them. This year's theme is Light it up Blue. Wear Blue on the day and turn on lights at homes and #workplaces to show our solidarity
2. Neurodiversity fundamentally means thinking differently. Neurodiversity often shows up in sociability, #learning, attention, moods, etc
3. Neurodiversity brings a #diversity of thoughts, hence #innovation and better business results
4. 4A framework for any organization willing to be #inclusive to #neurodiversetalent
. Awareness
. Accommodation (this is about understanding the needs of the individual and exploring what can be accommodated – eg. Providing a Dictaphone, adjusting the lighting, etc)
. Accessibility (this is about removing barriers – eg. Changes in recruitment and onboarding approaches)
. Advocacy (especially from leadership)

To make a #performancemanagement system supportive and fair it needs to be strongly based, and transparent. Neurodiverse talent can have some very high spikes and may be low in other areas
#Recruitment policies need to be relooked. Make a short crisp JD, Interviewer needs to be sensitive and educated, Expect what is really required by a particular role versus traditional #skill expectation
#Empathy, #EmotionalIntelligence, and humility are some critical skills required by #Managers to be able to manage neurodivergent talent. They are encouraged to be #MentalHealth First Aiders and seek expert help when needed

For those who may have missed the discussion, we highly encourage you to watch the video. Trust me, it's well worth the watch!
