First and foremost, what exactly is Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game? Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game is a turn-based card game where two players Duel against each other using various Monster, Spell and Trap cards in the Deck. The main objective of this game is to summon cards from your hand to attack and reduce your opponent's Life Points (LP) to 0. There are three main types of cards in this game: Monster cards, Spell cards, and Trap cards. These cards have distinct characteristics which make the game fun to play with.
For Monster cards, you will learn the cards' level/rank, attribute, attack, defense, type, and effect. In addition, you will determine what the different types of monster cards (Normal, Effect, Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, and Link Monsters) do. Aside from that, you will find out what cards are differentiated as Tuner Monsters, and Special Summoned Monsters. Normal monsters have no special abilities. While Effect monsters can also be classified according to their abilities. This Effect monsters include Spirit monsters, Toon monsters, Union monsters, Gemini monsters, and Flip monsters. Monster cards can be played face-up in Attack Position or face-down in Defense Position during play. The effects of monster cards (which normally activate during their controller's Main Phase) and their Attack and Defense values during the Battle Phase or Damage Step are what make these cards so important.
In order to win the Duel, you need more than just monster cards. You will be needing cards which have powerful effects to help your monsters and and stop your opponent from winning the Duel. These previously mentioned cards are Spell and Trap cards. You can set as many Spell and Trap cards as you want during your turn.
Cards with green-colored borders that have various effects to alter the play of the game are called Spell cards. In this video series, you will know what cards are in normal, equip, quick-play, field, ritual and continuous spells. A single Spell Card, when used correctly, can greatly change the game in the user's favor, and even make them win the Duel.
Furthermore, cards with purple-colored border are called Trap cards. These cards must first be Set, and it can only be activated once the existing turn is finished. It can then be activated during either player's turn. In relation to the aforementioned, in this video series, you will determine what cards are in normal, counter, continuous, equip, and field traps. Trap Cards can catch the opponent off guard by disrupting their attacks and strategy.
