I heard this song just by chance on spotify and ended up using it as a song to disconnect (or disengage) from the fact that 2023 was one of the worst years of my life. I specifically used it as a means to disengage and remove myself from the fact that my Grandma was actively dying and I couldn't do anything about it. This is on all of my playlists, and yet this is the first time in over 10 months that I've been able to fully listen to it again. I have so much love for this song and always will.

This song hits so many of us for mostly the same reason. Kieran tells Simon and the other judges that he wrote this as a response to a quite recent bout with depression.
I have depression in my family, luckily I was skipped (maybe?), but these words, these lyrics describe something quite different than depression. This song punches us ALL in the heart when it comes to a break up. Breaking up is probably one of the worst feelings humans can feel. Thank you Kieran for this masterpiece.
